clio is definitely faster. and i found it handles better too. a different driver might tell you something else though. but as for quickness, theres no debate. clio's are rapid, but then so was the 306 when it first came out in 1993. a great car even today:approve:
saw you today in my type r as i was coming home. you were just leaving. sounding nice mate. must be modified in some way surely. anyone on here????????
i've just watched the video that comes with the link. it's definitely at the flywheel. there's not much difference between it and the 182 really. lovely car though. still very quick. good vid too
186 bhp. doesn't sound like a big increase in power for that much work. that is if that figure is the flywheel bhp. if it's 186 at the wheels that will be rapid
yeah it's surprising how restricitve cats are. my race manifold (which has no cat) gave me about 15-20 bhp so it's easy to see how you can get 25-30 on a boosted engine.
can't help thinking that sounds like a lot of power for such little mods. the bloke i know with a 260 (mentioned earlier in the post) has now got an aftermarket dump valve, exhaust, induction kit and remap and i know he's not making that much power.
i'm not saying you're lying coz i know evo's...
you might just have me then lol. until i supercharge. then i'll have more power to weight and it will be a beast. but i've gotta stop talking about that until I actually get it done:rolleyes:
i haven't got any vids yet mate but i'm working on it. the manifold is from dc sports. definitely gonna supercharge it. i think superchargers suit the characteristics of the k20 engine. plus they sound awesome and go like stint. 300 bhp easily obtainable!!!!!
i've got a cold air induction kit, full race manifold with spoon cat back, jdm inlet manifold, uprated bored and tapered throttle body, hondata ecu with remap from cpl racing, kevlar clutch and lightened flywheel and a quaiffe differential. internals are standard but basically there is now no...
i saw you too. i was coming back from having my car serviced in braintree (cheaper than harlow for hondas) so thought i'd take a bit of a detour. you know, fresh oil in my car and driving really nice so thought i'd see if there were any other quick cars about to have a play with. shame i was...
you're spot on there mate with the engine info. i was gonna do a similar post myself but you beat me to it. oh and by the way, my civic will beat an evo. tried and tested. however, it was the 260 uk spec and not from standstill but on motorway and i pulled away from him. mine's not really...
if darren was behind the wheel, you'd beat him in your girlfriends 1.4 tigra. if i were to buy an evo, a yellow 260 wouldn't be my choice. badboy????? baldboy more like
do you ever get wheel hop when pulling off the line too fast. i used to get it in my ctr and the whole car would judder. sometime the cd i'm playing would cut off momentarily. this is caused by the wheels literally bouncing, or hopping when trying to gain traction in 1st. only talking...
actually roy munson, i've just re-read your post. i think you mean that a 182 wouldn't pull from a vtr at the rate at which that civic did on the evo. i get what you mean now. my mistake. i agree, that video probably is a fake because with 22psi you are bound to hear the spooling of the evo's...
are you sure a 182 wouldn't leave a saxo vtr that quickly. is that like a known fact amongst clio owners or does anyone disagree. the way i understand, a 182 is pretty much as quick as a ctr and definitley capable of nosing ahead of one if the situation is right. and yet, even when my ctr was...
Saw you last night at about 9pm on dual carriageway going towards tescos in church langley. It looked like you were racing something coz you were going pretty fast. couldn't see what though coz it was dark and i was going the other way but you were right up his arse. anyone on here??????????/
the best thing to do is get a race header. this is usually a 4-2-1 manifold or sometimes a 4 into 1 manifold. it bypasses the cat completely and is usually where you get the most restriction from a std exhaust system. de-cats alone don't usually give much power gains(approx 2-3bhp). i have a dc...
lets not forget that a 2.0 litre engine is relatively small so of course you will need to rag it a bit to get any serious acceleration. if you want instant power at any revs you need a much bigger engine with a much flatter torque curve. and preferably naturally aspirated or supercharged (but...
blue pahse 2 clio v6 LV05 ZZJ. in harlow near the town centre. followed you all the way to the edge of harlow where you go into roydon. best race i've ever had. if you're on here mate it'll be good to read your opinion of how close our cars were. especially on katherines way.
i saw you too mate. i was the one up his arse. i was right behind you first but then i saw you were four's up so figured you probably didn't wanna race. i hate it when that happens. someone always gets up your arse when you got loads of people in the car.
hi guys. thanks for the warm welcome everybody. that post about the type r wrapped around the lamp post is sickening. i also saw a wriiten off type r on my travels the other day overturned on an island in the road. if that happened to me i'd cry. but despite this i am still far too imature to...
Hi guys. I'm new on here and just wanted to say hello. I'm a type r owner (no abuse please) but thought i'd join this forum as there are a lot of rs clio owners on my ctr forum. don't worry, i'm not here to start arguments about which car is quicker as i'm sure that subject has been bled dry and...
well done on your win mate but the gti 180 is poo. that is one car i am happy to **** off. it's not nearly upto the standard of clio's. peugeot seem to have gone down hill given the fact that the 205gti and the 106 & 306 gti were so good. they were among the best around in there era. the 206 was...
I totally agree with you there TypeRobbo. i'm a type r owner and have recently joined this forum just to find out a bit more about clio's. the clio 172/182 seems to me to be more of a thrill-seekers only type of car. it's is pure hot hatch and nothing else. that's what renault do best imo. you...
