But if he is not at fault it doesn't make any difference if he is insured/legal etc
As crazy as it is a driver with no licence, no insurance, no tax, no mot and a car that is not roadworthy can still claim off a fully insured driver if they are not at fault!
i assume this is being settled out of insurance?
a grand is a damn good estimate for that!
plus an insurance co. would have him in a hire car because of the damaged boot floor, pushing the cost of the claim right up!
i say get him paid out asap and count yourself lucky! lol
Cheers for the comments :)
Chrispy - yes the column can be adjusted just like the mk2. At the moment I have a piece of 10mm aluminum acting as a spacer, but it's not quite enough, still feels like you are reaching up at the wheel. And I want the seat a touch lower so im going to need to space...
a trip to the local scrap yard turned up some laguna window winders as our current ones had a habit of coming off in your hand while winding, a quick trim of the carbon door cards ensured a good fit
cleaned the pipercross filter, was full of all sorts of crap, along with a menacing...
been a while since i have updated this, over winter the car has sat in the garage while i have been working on a few other things
had some good weather over the past few weekends so wheeled it out and tidied a few things up
first thing was to find out why the fuel gauge had stopped working...
lol nice! yours is running considerably more power than mine though! there's still time for me to remove it and get it rebuilt! need to make up my mind sharpish!
haha yeh i've asked the same questions before!
rebuilt around 12 months ago, only done 2 trackdays since it was done
started whining again towards the end of the second day (after using slicks)
i know it's going to need a rebuild at some point as the whine will only get worse, just wanted some re-assurance that it isn't going to die...
just want to clarify this, the whine is only evident when the box is under load
that's either the bearings or possibly the diff? am i correct?
i'm praying that an oil change and going fairly sympathetic in the morning will make it last a day at croft
after that i should have enough money...
Right cheers for all the info and help
I do know that the breather is blocked as the car came like that and I never changed it as I don't have a carbon canister
I thought it could be this initially as it sounds as if there is a pressure build up which then gets released, I thought opening...
Fuel pump is this one
http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p12683/Fuel-Pump-RENAULT-Clio-1.8-16v-(Motorsport-Upgrade)-(AOR034)/product_info.html
Haven't checked the voltage across it, will do that next
Sorry about the link, posted it using my phone so wasn't sure if it would work.
The fuel system is:
Uprated walbro pump
Weber fuel pressure regulator
Braided fuel pipes from bulkhead forwards
Car has no reserve tank either
Right I asked about this a while back but was only able to describe the noise, I have now taken a video of it
What you are listening for is the high pitched whine that happens every 10 secs or so
Can anyone tell me what is causing it? This is the second brand new fse pump as I thought it...
goes to the carbon cannister iirc, can remove it along with the cannister now you have itb's fitted
also, the 'L' shaped one under it (90 degree right), that's an oil breather, i would get a catch tank rigged up to that to collect oil vapour
don't really want any oil dripping down onto a red...
i found a dry sump kit to fit an F4R, was used in a formula renault car due to the low engine mounting and them using a shallow sump to compensate (relaying info from the seller so don't shoot me if that's wrong lol)
however......
the kit new from renault sport is alot of pennies! so even...
so many different opinions/advice about gearbox oil
alot of people on here say 75w-80, yet the specialist who rebuilt mine says you should use 75w-90, in fact he pretty much condemned using 75w-80!
funny story, my peugeot was crashed into, the at fault sent their own engineer to assess my vehicle
i didn't let on what i worked as, so he got his estimating system and glass's guide on his palm top, he valued it at £1600
i leaned over his shoulder and told him (in a subtle way) which...
again, people who talk about percentages and whatever need to understand that different companies have different value and salvage matrix to adhere to
on my desk i have about 15 different ways to work out value and salvage depending on who the claim is going through
i could bore you all to...
depends who the claim is going through and the condition of the car
different insurance companies and accident management companies use their own valuation matrix that the engineer has to adhere to
ah i see, i have a soft spot for 309's so was always interested to see what was happening with it
i'm hoping to move onto a mk2/mk3 cup racer eventually
i want a sequential gearbox more than anything in the world! lol
both
as both are imaged
technically though the inlet and plenum (sp?) are named differently and so could only be getting the lower inlet? but the image doesn't back it up
well when i spoke to agency last time and told them it was whining again he didn't say take it off and send it back to be checked lol so i assumed he was pretty confident that the change in oil would do the trick?
i'll call him again :)
