maybe i should bite the bullet and get it re-conned again and use the proper oil? what you think Tony? or risk it for a biscuit?
what's the worst than can happen.......no don't answer that! lol
lol just said 75-80 was old hat and haven't used it for years? strange as renault recommend it, safe to say i won't be questioning them though as they have 40+ years experience of rebuilding gearboxes!
not bothered about curing it as such, just making it last longer! the car has always got somthing wrong with it, just always a case of making it last a trackday til we can get it back in the garage lol
agency didn't seem overly bothered it had a whine, asked if it was a road car and what i'd...
right, had my gearbox refurbed middle of last year after it developed a hellish whine, did 2 trackdays afterwards while using 75-80 oil and a faint whine has developed again
been told by the guys that refurbed it that 75-80 is no good and i should change to 75-90, he reckons it is prob the 5th...
yes i too don't know what people are talking about when they say 'cat D unrecorded'
it cannot be! it's either a recorded total loss or it's not! there are ways to get around your vehicle being recorded on any salvage category, but that's a story for another day ;) and if this is the case, the...
bloody hell Lee! that's not a nice sight!
glad to hear you are repairing it, i was about to do my vulture bit and offer to buy it off you, but you've already made your mind up lol
i think the rules apply differently to private and trade sellers, a private seller can say they didn't know any history and plead ignorance, a trade seller has to ensure the vehicle is safe and 'fit for purpose' etc etc so they have to inform you if it is a previous total loss
field full of mines
no but the seller is obliged to tell you it has previously been written off, if they don't and you buy it, the arguement is between the buyer and seller
we have this arguement lots at work lol
i beg to differ ;)
come to us with a previously written off car, whether it has been repaired or not, and your value is gonna take a kickin' :D
for example, if 2 identical cars were sat side by side, but one was a previous cat D, you would expect it to be for sale for less than the one that...
i bought the ctek xs3600 the other day
looks like a neat piece of kit, hooked it up to the battery in the clio and left it to do its thing, clio won't be getting started for a while now, and i've already killed one battery through not running it often enough
right i'm a total noob at this
i currently use windows movie maker to transfer the in-car vids and rotate/mirror them (camera mounted upside down)
but it's crap, always crashing and what not
i want to have a play around and make a proper video montage type thing with pics, videos and music...
Yeh you too mate, always a good fun day there if the weather holds out
aye that's Mark doing his stuff, i think he secretly likes it when i ring to say i've broken something, 'cos then he gets to come and rescue us with that part we never seem to have lol
here is a pic of our revised alternator adjuster
so with that fixed my brother got in the car and went out for a stint on the slicks, he was back in before too long complaining of loss of power through the left handers, i put it down to fuel surge and put some more fuel in. Off he went...
Right, back from another open pit day at elvington so thought i would do a little write up as i haven't been updating the thread lately
Set off for Elvington airfield at around 7:15am and arrived at 8:15 ish. All the way there it was raining, not a good start, especially as i was looking...
I use a standard 172 decat pipe and never had it knock
it's mighty close mind, but so is everything else in the engine bay  (i've had to raise bonnet again to clear the new ITB airbox lol)
not really alot happening around here at the moment, have another airfield day in sept so just doing a few bits and bobs so it's ready
got the replacement fuel pump from Merlin, fitted it to the housing, but haven't put it in the tank yet as the back of the car is full of wheels and tyres that i...
just spoken to Merlin motorsport, new fuel pump coming out to me next week :D
so hopefully that was the only cause of the power loss and will be fixed and ready for it's next outing

Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
Danlp6?
Isn't that a blast from the past? He helped me in the early stages of my f4r conversion and then something went sour on the forum and he disappeared? Always seemed a very helpful guy when i spoke to him?! Is...
i had no end of trouble trying to get the smaller bush (yellow type) to fit my dog bone, there was no way on earth it would fit, so i binned it and went back to standard
we got it pushed in using a hydraulic press, but as soon as the pressure was released it just popped out and went flying
lol you just need to know where to look and who to ask ;)
how much you wanting to pay? :o
had a call from Merlin motorsport yesterday, my Walbro pump has been returned to FSE for testing
they say the flow is low and the amps are high, but they want to open it up to check for contamination...
not really anything significant to update
sent the walbro fuel pump off for testing today after the issues on track at FCS, if they send it back and say it's fine i need to investigate the loss of power at high revs more :S
also purchased more tyres :clown:
i now have too many wheels...
