checked my oil, its not that. couldnt check the coolant, didnt want a mini geyser in my engine bay!
so is it a sensor thing? mine doesnt stall, has rough idling but i thought tgat was normal!
would reading the ECU tell me any fault codes that might help?
ive just had this start today aswell in my RT - any sensors in particular to look for? any how do you test that they work ok - wouldnt there be other signs?
sh*t thats unlucky mate, i know how you feel without a car, ive only just got mine after its been off the road for about 3wks (on and off). having to ponce lifts, get the bus, and god forbid walk is not nice in this sh*tty weather.
so am i right in thinking you have no comeback with your...
ok not strictly engine mods but go to http://www.innovations.co.ukhttp://www.innovations.co.uk !!! just flicked through their catalogue, theres some quality gadgets there if you cant think of anything else!
i like the converter that takes your 12V DC cig lighter to a 240V AC 3-pin plug!!
bob - arent the renault special tools there just to make things easier for the mechanic? you can still change the belt successfully without it cant you?
IMO if you trust the mechanic who is working on your car (and lets face it youd be foolish to let just anyone loose on your baby!) then im...
if the problem is in the actual connection i dont think cleaning them will make a dfference. Do you know what connection it is exactly? if cleaning wont healp it, and you are sure that that is the fault, i would replace it and see what ahappens.
sounds good for a dealer!
at a private garage, my cambelt (+tensioner) was £180. if youre bothered about the renault stamp (and i wouldnt be as long as you know a quality private mechanic) then go for it.
unlucky mate, hope you dont get caught out - ive been lucky eough to get warned by an oncoming car that there was a trap ahead, saved me from a ban!
i never knew they did mobile truvelos now - sh*t were fighting a losing battle
hon you should know better than that son ;), need to put a grommet on even if the original one wont fit. otherwise, the wire will end up being cut by the harsh metal edge and will short out.
no aaron i think hes right - if you think about it, a larger circumference will mean you travel further inone revolution of the wheel. So when your speedo is calibrated to do, say, 10feet per revolution, you are probably doing in fact about 15feet, hence you going faster than it says you are...
yeah but wouldnt i have to take the driveshafts, hubs, loom? and idunno if it would make any difference but isnt the valver a multipoint inj. system? if so is the transplant for that tricky?
im wellup for this but need to know what size job this is first!
lol-alotcheaper thanmine.gonna talk to nick about whatwould need to be taken over, though if the 16v is a hard (and expensive) conversion i might not bother!
the motor for £150 - was that an 8v?
why??! no engine swap is easy, i know that, but what i meant was how much extra stuff will have to go with it? any idea if its a multi point sys? can i use the existing loom ?
i can get a decent 1.6 16v megane engine for about £300, need to know if its gonna fit in easily?
would there be much improvement over my existing 1.4 8v engine? do you reckon its worth it?
no its a quality place, i got the bearing myself and saw the old one after the swap. I hadnt thought of the CV joint going though - would it be more likely to be the inmoard or outboard end?
the noise was there before the work was done so they wont have not put stuff back wrong.
Def dont...
thats bollox mate, cant believe they take so little care on things like that - its their f**kin job!
sorry, cant help you out with refurbs but needed to let my anger out ;)
after i hit the kerb in the ice with the o/s wheel, i have had work done (see discussion post) to fix the suspension and alighnment (lower arm, bushes, wheel bearing) but have a loud rumble/groan that rises with road speed. It gets worse when you back off the throttle, and when you turn a bend...
GOt my car back from the bodyshop, everything has ben straightened out from my kerbing the wheel in the ice, replaceed a lower arm, bushes, wheel bearing and re-alighned everything. Drive very nice...only problem is that the great big groaning noise that i thought was just the bearing is not...
