Id get a ipad with 3G then you have the 3G as backup. If you can afford the little extra always worth it.
Are you driving or taking train? If your are taking train then maybe factor that into laptop size/weight.

Im at one of our sites at the moment. they have a lan cable here that is meant to use for my laptop but its pretty inaccessable. so i can connect my wireless router and manually set my wifi IP and i am now online.

just changed from a iPhone to a BB for work, called up customer services and told them i had a BB now and needed BES and they said fine no problem wait 48 hours.
