dual booting linux with OSX

I need to brush up on a bit of linux for the new job so i thought id install ubuntu on my mac as a learning platform.

whats the best way to do this? dual boot? virtual PC? not messed around too much with dual booting on the Mac's
I know i can install ubuntu on my MBP just want to know the best way to do it.

I used VMWare to install windows dual boot on mine and pretty sure you can install ubuntu that way as well
