When I was 17 my dad bought home Knackered Mini engine, found it at the side of the road on the way home from work. Over the next few months I stripped it down and rebuilt it with the help of Car Mechanics and my Dad. Learnt a lot about engines and how they work. When I finished it and got it...
Well, you know where it starts, it ends up connected near to the throttle body, induction piping, air box I guess. I don't have Ph 1 so I'm not too sure, can't be that hard to find.
You'll only be able to sell such a lowered car to a few other youngsters who want to be Looooooowwwww. Your 1.2 will as a standard car will appeal to thousands of 1st. time drivers and young mums as a cheap runaround. Dealers are unlikely to give you anything.
Yeh, 40mm. is about the limit just changing springs. You'll be able change to a more sportycar for the cost of coilovers and set up. Not forgetting they will de value your car when you come to sell it.

Bottomend---- Changing, repairing or uprating pistons...
It's the auxiliary belt, runs the power steering, alternator, and A/C if fitted. Your right, it's slipping or a noisy idler bearing, change the complete kit and you will be alright again, You should be ok to diy it if you are handy with basic car maintainance.
Euro Car Parts, and GSF do some genuine parts. You need to ask them if they are OE parts and they will come in the manufacturers boxes not Renault boxes.
No problems with 172 engines, they are generally strong and put together ok, cam belts have to be changed by a specialist in RS engines, not too expensive though. However the the other stuff that the car is made off, is tin foil and cheese so you can always find something that needs doing (...
