petrol tank breather problem after removing carbon filter

  iceberg 172
yesterday while having my bumper off to repair my head light and fit my washer blankers i thought just do it. so i did i removed it and blocked both hoses up to the inlet and from the tank ive left the top part pluged in as ive read to do this. i got out of my car before and thought i had a puncher at the rear but it was a hissing from my filler car i lossend it off and it just vented out. i looked using the search i found that it has a seperate breather so dont understand why this is happening. can i just unblock the hose i have blanked from the tank as as im aware this does not run fuel just vapor but then would it light being so close to the exhaust. im a bit peeed off now as i dont want to use it till its sorted

You should have either 1. joined the 2 pipes together or 2. plug the pipe thats goes to the inlet/plenum chamber and route the the fuel tank breather pipe away from the exhausts and left it open to the atmosphere someone safe.
