My mate just let me drive his 182, just for a little drive back from dropping him off in town, what a car!! I WANT ONE!!!!!! so different to mine, everything feels so tight and precise in comparison, is that just the model difference, or the 40000 mile difference?? would a mk1 drive similarly to...
Hi, changed my downpipe/cat assy because the flexible bit at the top was goosed, started her up, sounded fine. drove her down the road, noisy as fcuk when opening the throttle, sounds fine on a constant throttle though. could it possibly be the manifold/downpipe gasket, as i re used the old one...
Does anyone know how much an exhaust manifold for a w reg 1.6 16v should cost?? has anyone changed one and is it a massive pain in the arse or just a small one. cheers:mad:
tell me about it!! went on money supermarket and got quoted 1300 for a mk 1 172 valued at 4.5k and 600 for my 1.6 valued at 3k. went to greenlights site and got quoted 950 for the 172, so thought maybe theyd be able to beat the quote hor my 1.6. apparently not!:S
just wonderin how much id be lookin at for my 2000 rsi with 64k on the clock, book stamped up, although not by main dealers, recently had oil, filters, plugs, cam belt, 4 tyres and full exhaust from manifold back, would be sellin with 12 months t+t. not mint, a couple of pin dents in the rear...
why is it that when you go on the internet looking for quotes, then ring the company to confirm it, the price goes up?? got a quote for a mk1 172 on from greenlight for about 950 ish, then phoned them and it became 1050! then asked them to quote me on my current car, and they said they wouldnt...
wouldnt it be a wastegate set to open at a set pressure, thought that was why people used bleed valves to up boost, to fool it?? think volvo mite be a hassle with mounts, electrics etc....
btw, how much does a built up gtt block weigh minus its head?
yeah, cant think of what would be electronically controlled on those engines, not fuelling cos its a carb, doubt theyd electronically control boost that long ago, possibly ignition???? hows it controlled? mechanically?? hmm:S
does the gtt motor physically fit into a mk1ph1? what
mounts would i need to fit it? what fuel pump would i need to use? what electrics does the gtt motor use? any advice would be helpful, cheers:)
with the gtt motor running a carburettor would that mean that theres sod all electronics to worry about?? just thinking it might be easier to put in an older clio than messing about with looms to fit a newer engine??
so thats a cold air feed, bigger throttle body, new plugs, remap, cams, full exhaust inc sport cat and a better fuel pump. for 20 hp and a 30nm of torque...... sounds good to me.
pretty sure theydidnt do the 172 in the same blue as mine, its more of a petrol blue, think the blue 172s were a metallic navy blue. only reason im thinkin of gettin anthracite wheels is the centres of mine are that colour and look pretty smart for 14's
mmm.... bin lookin at mk 1 172's, some goin around 5k. 3.5k for sellin mine, probly be best savin the 1.5k and just buy a 172 and be done with it!!!
the downpipes actually quite easy once you know what youre doin. cant believe a garage wanted 300 sheets to do mine!!!! mite do the suspension in...
so say i was to fit a manifold and exhaust system, panel filter and get the inlet/exhaust ports matched, how much power would i be seeing, assuming i got a re-map to suit the mods?
what is the limiting factor?? i know that saxos get more revs but is there any reason why our engines cant?? has anyone taken these engines particularly far power-wise?
will the mk 1 172 alloys fit my 1.6 rsi, if so, how do you think they would look if i got them done in anthracite, as my car is a dark metallic blue and i plan on tinting my windows, rear clusters and if possible repeaters. any ideas?
