didn't use spring compressors on N/S, was trying anything on O/S as it was ridiculous how much i was hitting the bolt to get it out. need new nuts for them also :)
there were 2 whites dots on the smaller spring but nothing on the bigger one, this is why i'm here because i have no idea what the...
Hi All, looking for some advice.
TL:DR : need new struts and coils, i think. I've measured the distance between holes and I am 85% confident I need the 54mm spaced struts and new coils. I've found an ebay item...
Hi All, looking for some advice with an issue I'm getting.
Replaced Lower Ball Joint on N/S and bolted up to wishbone no problems.
Went over to O/S fitted Ball Joint to Hub and then went to secure to wishbone when I noticed cv boot had some grease coming out of boot. Couple days later bought a...
put my car back together and tried to start it but nothing, not even turning over. checked grounds and everything ok so need a wiring diagram if possible? can anyone help?
I'm starting to put things back together on my clio, which I took apart a couple of months ago.
I was a bit idiotic and didn't snap any pictures of the wires before removing them, I've got all of the wire clips back into there proper sensors, I think, and I've got 2 ground wires which I'm not...
alternator recharges your battery so it doesn't go flat and generally just powers the electrical system while the engine is running. it's got a pulley which the aux belt goes around .
it's not really a big job to replace them as it's a couple of bolts , one on the bottom and one on the top...
My alternator eyelet/terminal has snapped off and I need to re-crimp/solder on a new terminal/eyelet. I've looked around for eyelets but they max out at 35a and the alternator amps are much higher? what's the best terminal/eyelet to use for this?
:)
I've just put the engine in today and found the biggest bolt for the lower gearbox mount goes in the top hole after you put the power steering pipe around gearbox there's a bracket on the pipe that you put over the bolt hole and the big bolt fits perfectly. No idea what the black bracket is...
just put a pick in all of the threads and the bolt is bigger then all of the bolt holes so looks like i've misplaced the bolt. still don't know what that black bracket is though.
So i've been working on a Clio 172 project and have come to mount the gearbox to the engine. I have put all bolts in all around gearbox at 30nm and have come to attach the lower gearbox mount. I have 3 small bolts and 1 long bolt which I left with the lower mount when I took it off, about 2...
unfortunately I don't own a welder
I own the halfords advanced 200pc set so sockets are good. it may have been on at an angle but I'm not sure now, but i managed to get 9 of the bolts out.
I was thinking about drilling the head off but the bolt is threaded all the way up the bolt head so...
so I've been working on my little clio project having never worked on a car prior to this. bought with a snapped cambelt I thought I would take engine out and have a look at cylinders/pistons/valves to see if engine was salvageable with a head rebuild loosened headbolt 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,1 and as...
would it be possible to get this moved to the project section?
So now that the engine is out I thought I would check out the internals of the engine last night and see what damage has been done.
I should have probably looked at this while the engine was sat in the car but I'm still learning...
just got home from work so I've got some time to upload some images of what I've done so far.
first step was to buy some tools:
Trolley Jack
Axle Stands
Small Socket Set
Cheap Socket Set ( a week later because I realized i didn't nearly have enough sockets )
4 Set of Circlip Pliers
armed...
so I've just learnt that google drive sucks for sharing images and I can't figure out how to edit my original post so I've uploaded to flickr, hopefully will be better. pics below:
I've always wanted to have a car project so bought myself an 02 Clio 172 from fleebay for £400 with supposedly a snapped cam belt, paid for recovery, £40, and now it's sitting on my driveway! hopefully when working will be a little track car.
I've not got any experience of working with cars at...
