They are group 12 usually, depends on the insurers.
The common grouping for the williams is 17, but when i phoned up my company asking about insuring one they said nooooo way, its group 20, cant insure it.
Being 21, your mate should get insured on one pretty easy.
The water gauges on the dash are shat, oil takes at least 10 miles to reach 80 degrees - optimum protection temp, depends on the sort of driving and weather outside.
If you drive down a dual carriage way it takes much longer to warm up as you have air flowing in the front, so about 15 miles...
lol yeah all turbos have wastegates, it not actually the wastegate making the chatter noise.
when the throttle is snapped shut, the air in the inlet pipes rushes back towards the turbo and it gets chopped by the turbo blades, making the chatter noise.
If you have a dump valve it just...
Standard escort and fiesta turbos do it on overrun with just a mongoose exhaust....
My Fiesta Turbo pops and burles like a goodun on overrun, with standard exhaust you get none of it, fit a magnex and you get a little popping, but i have straight through mongoose S/S system, 2.5" from turbo to...
Depends on your circumstances really to whether you will get a better quote, as most insurers wont insure young drivers <25 cheaply on cars over group 12 if it is to be in your parents name.
They know its obvious that the young driver will use it more.
How old are you if you don;t mind...
Gearboxes seem like they are made from cheese
Do you lot cain them in first gear alot ? or are they just weak ?
seems pretty crap that the boxes let go at 50k onwards
Dunno if she would let me lol but im sure the car wouldnt have a problem with it, as it would be driven sensibly for once :D
You could try and persuade her for me ;)
Daz,
Yes i am thinking about it, mint willy 3 has come up with low miles, and to say im tempted is an understatment lol, not sure about keeping both as i would have no use for both really.
I remember talking to you at trax yup, at that point you had only taken about 50000000 pictures on your...
People who have williams, how many miles have you done in them since you bought them, and whats the mileage on them now ?
what things have you had to replace/fix...? and approx price of the parts if you can rememeber .??
Cheers peeps.. :)
Yeah the old shape Mondeo had an ST200 in blue, came in hatchback or 200 special saloon models. 202 bhp from a 2.5 v6
The new shape one is the ST220, 0-60 is 6.6 so it shouldnt be too slow, very smoooooth.
Not much between with the zetec-s and the old vtr, both around 10 seconds to 60.
Fiesta is better specced, standard abs and traction control, cd player, some have heated front screen, and air con is on alot of them aswell, no saxos have them bits.
Just did a search and found that a couple of people have had them done, one said it cost £35 with the diamond cut edge redone, from a place called Pro clean in merseyside - bit far from you,
And someone else said it cost them £45 each wheel but it doesn;t have the diamond cut rim -
Do...
All ford production turbos run intercoolers, and so do all production turbo cars I can think of :) the only ones i can think of that dont run one are the low pressure turbo conversions that some companies do on standard cars. -
you need one really to get decent power or the air entering is...
All turbo cars have intercoolers, or the ACT (air charge temps) would be too high - loosing power ) the Focus Rs has one, It runs 1 bar boost, (14.7psi) which is more than standard cosworths.
172man - you saying the focus torque steers all over the place, so do most high powered FWD cars, your...
Why did the gearboxs break ?? do they know the cause?
Dont cain the car in first as it wrecks boxs, and to break a 1.2 box twice is pretty mad:devilish:
All you lot who like doing 0-60 runs shouldnt expect your boxes to last that long lol booooooooom:o
One thing i noticed about the rolling road day last sunday, the RR operator was hitting the limiter in what i saw was all the cars.
Now to get a power run, surely you only have to rev to where the max power is. Which isnt on the limiter.
I think there was a couple of chipped ones, that just...
Standard Escort RS Turbos (series 2s) are 8.2 to 60.
Alot of un cared for ones about that wont be running properly, and need a good setting up to restore even factory performance - actuators go soft and they run lower boost, so will make them slow.
Fiesta RS Turbos in standard form are 7.7...
They only have a 9.0 seconds 0-60, so i hope you could toast him :D
Focus is comfortable for criusing around in though and has lots of equipment. Get some decent tyres on the focus, not the standard fuel saver crap and hell match you on the twisties
Kelly, how do you insure a williams tpft ?? it is valued at less than 5k or something ?? most williams are valued over this and insurers insist on FC over 5k
cheers. :D

Official ford figure is 5.9 for the Early large turbo escorts, J reg - L reg, the later smaller turbo models, M reg - R reg are 5.7 to 60. 227bhp standard, and 140mph top end.
People on here go on about you should be able to get the clio 0-60 times lower than the book says, so that should...
Synthetic oil protects the engine too well for running in, so the parts dont bed in properly. Once run in, use fully synthetic to protect the engine properly.
