The pipe bursting is pretty common, once the fluid is gone the pump soon goes as it has no fluid to lubricate the insides. With no fluid my old pump set on fire within 10 minutes
when you stood does your temp sensor go all the way to the top? is water getting into the rad? (test this by sqeezing the hoses near the rad and looking if the header tank level changes)
Test the fan is working by getting 2 bits of wire attaching them to the battery and to the fan connector
take the airbox off then look at the gearbox under it
From there locate the fly wheel you will be able to see a sensor similar to the pictured one.
you undo it with a 10mm socket there are 2 of them
It connects to the loom with a plastic connector which you need to pull off
