Well after owning a 1.4 fiesta, I wanted something much faster, but I had a limited budget. Wanted to get a pug 106 gti for ages... but as soon as I realised I could afford a 172, I went for that. Loving it :D

Thats between the mk2 172 and cup.

I love the way people think the cup is soooo much faster, its only 15kgs lighter than a mk1 172. A cup driver who enjoys the occasional pie or two will make that difference up ;) And you get all the toys with the regular 172. Saying that, the lack of ABS on the cup doesnt mean you are going to...

I average 40 mpg in my 172, fuel costs arent too bad!

28.9 thats bad :o I average just over 40mpg. Although once when I went into granny mode I managed a whopping 51.7 mpg :D Thats on a 172 with normal unleaded petrol.

I managed to get from Aberystwyth in Wales to Rochester in Kent (300 miles) on 3/4 of a tank. Drive carefully and you should manage it!

Highest ive had is 49mpg (taking it very steady) I average about 38-39 mpg though. Which isnt bad!

Bit better than a fiesta eh? ;)
