Do either of these rear springs look correct for the Cup (ones got many more coils than the other)? I'm guessing that since the former owner put Unipart brake pads in, he probably just put random coil springs in too.

One of the little problems that's starting to bug me is an intermittent starting problem. Turn the key, all the dash lights come on and go out, go for the ignition and nothing happens (can hear a click from fuse box). Turn it off, on again and after 3/4 attempts it starts normally, first turn...
Having been a CS member for over five years, I thought it was about time I picked up an RS. My little 1.2 was a pig and I vowed never to own another Clio again - but hopefully that's the end of the problems. Had a Mondeo TDCi in the interim, that I used to tow the XR2, great big comfy barge...
Sold the XR2 last month, had a good offer and I've basically run out of cash, so sold it. Stock Hatch is one of the cheapest forms of racing, but on a wage of under a grand a month, it was never going to last long. No idea what I'm going to do next, but here's a short highlights of the season.
After blowing the new engine up at Donington last time out, I managed to partially re-build the old engine and get it into the car before this round. But with limited time off work, I didn't manage a trip to the rollers to get the carb set up, so just had to run with what I had.
Got up to...
One for the vtec lovers. Camera car is a 1.6 Civic - up against two 2.2 DC5s (and the rest of the field who finish as also-rans).
None of the cars are exactly standard, but the 1.6 certainly doesn't disgrace itself against the 2.2s :)
A good example of a sorted car being driven HARD on a...
My championship gets underway this weekend at Silverstone (on the Triangle National circuit). Had an interesting winter - decided to build a new engine to the maximum allowance in the rules in the hope of finding a few extra mph on the straights and better driveability (bearing in mind my only...
Every morning I pass an RB 182 driving down Wetherby Road at about 8.30am. Black roof - looks amazing.
Also let an RB 197 out of a junction near Starbeck down Knaresborough Road at about 6pm tonight.
All through 2011 I’ve struggled with straight-line speed. The XR2 is great on the brakes and great at carrying speed through corners, but there isn’t a lot to offer after that and several times this season I’ve found myself gaining on cars through braking and cornering, only for them to...
Getting a wobble only under acceleration (dip the clutch / throttle off and it goes away), rather than being through the steering, it actually shakes the car side to side between about 30-50mph in any gear - more pronounced under high rpm. Then same above 80, feels ok 50-80 though. Bearings...
Had a great end to the season with the weekend just gone, a double header at Cadwell on a weekend of mixed weather and fortune.
Hadn't had a lot to do to the car since the last round, so went into qualifying with a known quantity. It was dry to start off with, damp in places, although stupidly...
Couple of the Jap powered guys in the NSSCC race at Croft last weekend.
