Maybe a corroded ignition lead mate, a mate of mine had that problem, the spark plugs will look ok and theres no visible sign of damage on the leads but maybe internal damage on 1 or more of the leads.

If you get a second battery in the boot, wont you still need to route a cable through?

You should get some decent power increase but your manifold is where most of the restriction is currently. Problem with de-catting is itll fail your MOT and Itll be a lot louder & sound tinyer (if thats a word)!

I agree with the majority of people that it probably wasnt a vtr that got left miles behind by the 1.4 rt. BUT, vtrs arent that fast, they feel fast when ur in them but compared to a slightly tuned old shape rt theres not much in it 0-60.

Was it a turbo s8 by any chance? Your gonna get big increases from big engines especially if its turbo charged, its a completely different ball game with a 1.2 clio! You might get half a three legged pony out of it if your lucky!

Last time i looked it was about £30/£40 for a pair but they just take ages to fit tho.

Cheaper option is a kit available from most style/tuning shops i.e. smart car etc, so you take the lock barrel out and you get a blanking metal plate that sits flush where the key hole used to be. Still looks like a lock but there isnt really one there, save painting the whole door.
