    yes, stock but re-calibrated,,,,

    MegaSquirt ECU?

Who mapped the stock ECU's which you compared back to back with a mapped Omex?

    MegaSquirt ECU?

Best off just getting it remapped, RSTuning comes highly recomended. After-market managment is only needed when high duration cams are used, which are outside the OE capabilites. or for ITB's.

    MegaSquirt ECU?

Omex is common on here 'cos GDI market them on here... You dont need to be near Norwich either lol, thats just a bonus if you particulalry want hinm to map it.

    MegaSquirt ECU?

Emerald ecu's are cracking bits of kit. Software is very very user friendly, which makes the difference....same cant be said for alot of the others.

    cat cams 428,gutted

valve cut-outs are larger on one side (inlet). Im suprised they didnt try and get out of the warranty work by saying youve voided it by having the head removed. Daft I know, but not unkown for renault...

    197 Throttle Bodies?

Yes read all the posts...all this talk of testing and length, never any mention of testing the bends seperatley. Not exactly a a big deal mate, I was only curious. George, the length of an intake and the pulse effect this causes works in an overtone principal. As we know, generally a...

    197 Throttle Bodies?

was there much compromise in peak power to get the max torque? i.e was there much peak power drop between the shortest and longest?

out of intrest, has removing the head not voided the warranty with Renault? i.e have they asked why the head was removed for you to find this? if not, im suprised they havnt used that to try and get out of the work...

Would take more than cutting the seats back by a couple of thou....more like 0.010-20! Good excuse for forged pistons if you ask me...pistons are gonna have to come out either way, may cost an extra say £350-400 compared to milling the cut-outs in the std pistons, but on a bill which is going...

Some race cars, or rather their mechs/drivers prefer not to, run filters...but this really isnt advisable least of all for a road car.

    Avanti lsd Anyone using one?

They are very good. Good adjustment on them. Im selling an Avanti close-ratio cluster, currently built into clio casing with a std diff. Would make an awesome box with an LSD. Ideal for sprints/hillclimbs. pm me if its of any intrest to you.

    F7R vs F7P vs ITB

aye thats might point though!! testing like that doesnt isolate how bad or good the manifold tranistion is, as you cant swap JUST manifolds.
  22. S

    F7R vs F7P vs ITB

point being theres nothing smooth or not smooth about either... as for testing, you cant isolate the manifold as a point of potential gain or loss is what im saying, as the heads are different. If the heads were the same, and we were talking about two different designs of manifold, then yeah...

    F7R vs F7P vs ITB

The gain in inlet flow from the larger valve, is more than off-set by the nasty bowl profile due to the cutting operation....hence me saying when the heads are in std form. i.e when you re-work the bowl, you see the gains. Theoretically the megane intake port enters the chamber centrally. I...

    F7R vs F7P vs ITB

Both heads allow for about 180bhp, with stock engines + ITB's. The rumours of megane heads being "better for ITB's" are just that, ones which I believe only came about due to the fact its easier to get a DCOE manifold for the megane engine. The megane head has better theoretical attributes...

    Running in engine

yup better materials, manufacturing processes etc. As for why do manufacturers give certain guidlines, well I think its a case of covering their arses, and perhaps not knowing the full involvment of a "running in" cycle. its safer in their opinion to tell you to not labour an engine and...

    Running in engine

Giving full load forces the rings into the bores as max cyl pressure is created here. overrun and engine braking helps draw residual oil (and so micro-debris) from the ring lands....as a vacuum is created. Its difficult to draw people away from guidlines in the owners manual of the brand...

    throttle body trumpets

I dont think anyone is really revving high enough lol Set them up on a couple of other cars, but not clios. My williams has got them, but not mapped yet,.,.

    throttle body trumpets

They are there to reduce losses through pressure change as the air enters the inlet. they also aid pulse effect. longer= more torque lower down and higher power at a lower peak rpm, Conversely for shorter, they will aid power at higher rpm. Main limitation is space, generally you want to...
