Seen as Ben has gone AWOL, im not too concerned about treading on peoples toes (ive been watching this thread for a couple of weeks, and its going no-where).
If you get details of numbers, I'll provide a price based on that.
For the record its a modification ive been offering for a few...
Inbox emptied ben
as said its a nice thing to have done whilst apart, for the sake of nicness lol.
But thats about it.
many places recomend it, that doesnt mean alot though. have they any empirical proof (places that recomend it, im not talking about just GDI for example) that there is...
The crank doesnt rotate in the oil though...
yes you get a mist build up, which can cause drag on the crank, but this is largely unaffected by aerodynamics. This is what the windage try is for.
Knife edging the leading edge of a crank is utter BS. The most aerodynamic shape for a body...
was yours for a 172? or another car?
only reason I ask is 'cos for most modern diesels the injector trim does need coding to the ecu.
on petrol's however, this isnt the case, so if they charged for it they shouldnt have.
if you can do the work yourself your onto a winner. bearings will be like £40, gasket sets £70-80, £100 for a crank re-grind, £30 to deck the block, £30 to skim the head, etc
wont be massively expensive to do a standard rebuild if its DIY.
Just make sure you check everything, clearances...
yes...and going to a 60grade with what will probably standard oil clearances is going to do it more harm than good.
It would be alot better to better the oil cooling system rather than randomly chucking in various grade oils.
Besides, using a better more thermally stable oil would be a...
Have you checked to see if its blown a spark plug out (common fault)?
SOunds more like that to me than a mechanical noise. Doesnt sound like bigends thats for sure.
they arent dowled/key'd so just have a fiddle.
Im guesisng you dont have a specific lift at tdc figure, so its going to be a suck it and see on the dyno.
ATB is Quaife's own brand/type. As said they act open if one wheel looses traction.
They are typically less agressive in terms of tramlining and inducing understeer on zero throttle.
Plate type limit slip according to torque input. So full throttle/torque.
There locking ability/rate is...
Ive fitted throttle bodies to quite a few williams.
On std engine they ain about 30bhp peak, and masses more torque ALL over.
Just mapped one today actually---243bhp! other mods were used lol.
Drive-in-drive out service from me is £3200 in all fitting, mapping, custom ally rad...jenvey...
LMAO.
It has to be said, as far as refinement goes, you cant beat an OE ecu. They are designed to operate under all conditions, with alot more inputs then most after-market units.
That said, yes of course its possible to set them up nice, just takes time..
