Yeah done those, and rechecked they were tight the other day. The play is on the column side I'm sure. If it was the rack, the column wouldn't have the dead spot when the wheel is turned.

Well heres a couple of videos, is it me or when turning back does the bit connected to the steering wheel seem to take up slack before the lower half turns in a linear movement? Its very noticeable at high speed. On the second video it starts to turn, then "slows down" while slack is taken up...

Dephaser makes it sound like a diesel for sure, mine sounds the same when its warmed up! cold start and its quiet (as quiet as Renaults are lol) So much so that one of the marshalls at the last trackday asked if it was a diesel :( lol
