The engine mount was ok but the gearbox and the dogbone were worn. Anyway, without the dogbone and with the engine sitting normally there's less than 1 cm of space.
I'm pretty sure it's the arb! I had knocking on fast gearchanges at high rpm even with the 172 manifold, with the 182 mani (dent-less version) it was almost constant even at low speed you could hear it, only the purple bushes and some work on the engine position cured it.
Changing the manifold for a 182 one is not so easy, you got to remove the ARB and there isn't much room to work around.
Plus, if you have one of them without the "dent" it will knock on the ARB, it's reccomended to fit the powerflex bushes for the dogmount and to set the engine mount to make the...
I would go for a decat only if the cat is broken and I can't afford a sports cat.
With the standard exhaust it shouldn't become too loud. Car should rev more freely above 4-5k and lose a bit of torque low down.
Obviously you will get that old fashion smell of fuel!
I think the engine will sound...
For track coilovers would be better (if they are good, like AST or KW2)...on the road it could be a good compromise...what springs were you thinking about?
If you can't put it on a rolling road try this, put it in 3rd, at a steady 50 kph (that's 30 mph), floor it and at the same time start the clock and stop it at 90 (56)...let me know the accel time, we'll see how it goes.
Mine doesn't vibrate at idle and isn't stiffer in any way apart from engine movement under throttle opening/closing. Maybe there a little bit more vibration on the gearknob.
There was a noticable difference in gear change precision and in engine movement on mine too, and the banging sound of the 182 manifold disappeared (no dent version).
I say they're money well spent.
Check for accidents, obviously.
Suspensions:
Old or failing dampers, bushes, top mounts, balljoint, wheel bearings, camber/toe value wrong (irregular tyre wear, but better to check the alignment with a specialist)
Gearbox: syncro, specially 1st, 2nd and 5th, check gearchange at high revs...
Mmm I think I'm sold :star:
I'm getting one as soon as possible, new dampers are the priority now, matter of a few months.
I'll have it on the dyno before and after, and acceleration times too (usually I do the 50-90 in 2nd and 90-130 in 3rd, kph that is, before and after every important mod)...
Hipwell I'm asking about dyno for that exact reason, with a comparison of torque and power curves you can tell which car is more drivable!
I know very well about people asking about peak power. That day i was talkin about, the owner of a Golf GTI 211hp has his car mapped with a full exhaust, the...
I asked before, is there a dyno of the same car with your map and the stock one? even a modified one would be good (manifold, decat..the usual)...
I'm thinking of getting a rs tuner but I'd like to know if it's worth it.
A local tuner, who does a lot of Abarth, VW, Alfas etc.. was here a few...
Is a sort of adapter with a USB port and a OBD port, so you can connect you laptop to the car and change the maps, through a specific software. Nothing new, there are lots of OBD adapter, but this is specific for the RS.
It's sold on the Fastchip website, plus you need to buy a license for your...
I'd like something like on the mini, like this:

It sounds more natural and subtle, but it's cool, it adds character to the sound.
