I'm running braided lines and 5.1 fluid with these pads and have had the same experience as Gstar - lots of squealing, rubbing and grinding but not much bite, power, progression or consistency.
For the road I would stick with OE pads, and for the track I'd go Pagid / DS2500 / CL (but as franx...
I made the mistake of buying these, have been woefully unimpressed with them so far - poor feel, spongey pedal and not much power.
Bizarely, they need to be warmed up a bit to get any bite out of them too (although it is minus 5 over here at the moment).
Get the more proven DS2500 or Pagids if...
You're right, it would've made more sense start off with a 172 cup (especially since he also dis-engaged the ABS)
Basically he bought it brand new, drove it on the road for 3 years and then fancied doing a bit of racing so stuck the cage in and invested in some coilovers (to lower the ride...
Thanks for input folks.
Superfluous as in "unnecessary" and "needless". Since slick tyres require less body roll for the development of grip, the excess body roll afforded by the Sachs set up becomes "superfluous".
T5PHY - I assume you have tried your Trophy with slicks on a swiss hill climb...
I bought the car with the coilies on, the previous owner had used it for hillclimbs and slaloms and got bored of the superfluous body roll of the standard set up, especially when using slicks.
I heard these things are 600 quid for the pair, that can't be right can it?
I have a trophy on coilovers at the moment and I'm keen to swap back to the sachs dampers.
I have the fronts luckily, but need a pair of rears - does anyone have some for sale or can someone give the new price from Renault?
I've got a shaky driver's side mirror (vibrates at motorway speeds).
I'm on coilovers so I guess that didn't help, but there must be a way to fix it - any ideas?
I think the KW's are V2's.
I guess it's fitness for purpose really - I'm sure the KW's would perform better on the track with full slicks, but chances are the sachs will be better for the road.
Anyone had the luxury of trying both?
I've just got myself a new trophy and it's sitting on KW coilies as it was an ex-track car.
I got the sachs with it as well - should I swap them back in or leave it on the KW's?
I plan to do about 20 track days per year, but also have to use the car every day to get to work (90 mile round...
just bought a trophy and need some help with the interior.
Firstly, how do you properly secure the central console surrounding the gear lever? mine is just sitting on top and rattels pretty badly.
Secondly, how do you remove the glove compartment lid - I need to file off the oute edge to...
thanks for the info.
yeah it is and you can tell.
do you know if the speakers in the trophy are the same as the 182FF? Then I'd just switch the two out before I sell the FF.
right, had a look under the seats - airbag resistors are indeed missing.
I'll pick some up after work and stuff them in the black connector in the two wires other than the black one, right?
Question: do I need to disconnect the battery before I stuff these resistors in or is that not...
nah, complete myth fortunately for me - the Swiss are pretty into their motors and they have the money to pay for them.
They have some strange rules regarding motorsport though; you can only race against a clock, not against another car (they had some nasty accidents in the 50's and 60's)...
I've just upgraded from a 182 FF to a Trophy.
In the catalogue at the time, the HU was listed as a "Radiosat CD 4x15 W" for the Trophy and "Radiosat CD Cabasse-Tronic 4x40 W" for the FF.
Thing is, the HU in the trophy looks identical to the one in my old FF - could it be that it's the same...
yeah, there are some small differences to the UK spec Trophies and the cup spoiler is one of them - www.cliotrophy.ch alot of the guys here switch them out for the V6 item - not sure if I'll bother though.
Some of the plastics in the cabin are a little different to the 182ff as well -...
Glad you all approve :approve: must say it looks better now with the two OMP's up front - but does need a clean already, damn salty Swiss roads.
Warren - the Swiss market Trophies came with cloth trendlines (not as nice at the UK Alcantara jobbies tbh). Didn't get those with it though as the...
cheers for the comments guys. just got an email from the previous owner - he confirmed that I need to change the rear discs to get the abs back. Apparently on the inside of the disc is a small trigger on the inside that activates the ABS sensor - does that make sense?
cheers for the comments - but the trophy comes with recaros as standard so doesn't have side airbags anyway so I don't think that would cause the airbag light to come on.
I think the guy who sold it to me reckoned I'd need to change the rear pads to get the abs back, is that possible? (I...
Picked up my new car yesterday - A LHD trophy (number 50 of the 50 specially made for the swiss market ).
It has a roll cage, coilies (got the oe sachs dampers with it too :approve:) and buckets fitted and has seen a season of hillclimbs and slaloms. All seems well so far though, and...
Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it.
In what way is the cable throttle superior?
I've living in Switzerland at the moment, so it's gotta be lhd...
I'll try one this weekend and make my decision then. Shame I can't pop to the track on the test drive... guess I could ;)
will do.
Baz, just noticed you have one of each - guess you're the guy to talk to then...
what are the differences? which is quicker round a track? does the ph1's nose cling on like the 182? Same 3-wheels anitcs? Same lift-off rear-steer?
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going with 15's anywa so that's not really a decision point.
dzm - I will need to spend the 3k (tyres, cage, seats, harnesses) - I go on the track every week in the summer and there's no way I'm doing that without some decent safety gear.
I guess it's just...
