Right, took a look at the front hub today and the ABS lead seems to be in place.
Perhaps there's somethnig wrong in the electric system, I'll get Renault to check it out at the next service
Are anyone elses jacking points bent and ruptured to buggary or was the previous owner of my car just lazy with the jack?
Is it possible to replace the jacking points or re-inforced them somehow?
Does the ABS actually get activated or is it just a ticking noise under the brake pedal?
If it's the latter I have the same issue but not sure what's causing it.
My Trophy is a lot more jerky when I come off throttle than my old 182 FF: has a real tendancy to lurch forward when you come sudenly off the power at high RPM.
Could this be due to worn out engine or gearbox mounts perhaps? I have coilovers on the Trophy - does this make a difference to how...
Just noticed a crack in the splitter and front bumper of my Trophy (one too many speed-bump interfaces with that low front end).
Anyone know how much a new one costs from Renault?
Are they difficult to fit?
The carpet in my Trophy doesn't fit properly (there are a few creases and bubbles in it)...
Also, there's about an inch high gap between the carpet and the lower part of the central console, which houses the gear stick and handbrake.
Same situation between the door sills and carpet.
My 182...
one more question: what kind of hub does the 172 cup use?
If my hubs don't have an ABS sensor it's probably a fair guess that they're 172 cup items right?
Thanks for the photo Keith - the previous owner switched the hubs out so he...
Steelies are winter wheels, the turini's will be back on there in the summer...
ok, I'll have to check the front hubs for an ABS sensor, could someone post a photo of what they look like please or explain it to me?
Right, thought I'd make a project thread about this - quite a bit to do on the Trophy to get it in good working order.
First job, install ABS-compatable rear discs:
Very simple job I must say:
1. Loosen rear wheel bolts and unscrew the axle bolt
2. Jack up the car and secure on axle stand -...
New Trophy! - First REAL Drive
Managed to get off work early last night and take the long route home via some awesome mountain roads for my first real drive of the Trophy.
I'm very impressed with the chassis to be honest - I had feared the KW's would be too stiff but actually they add alot of...
Fixed it!
Seems if you turn the ignition on and off in quick succession you get a sort of fault re-set. I did it to try to get the damn airbag warning light off. That one stayed on, but the emission warning light went off.
So, next time your light comes on, try the ignition re-set, if it...
Tried all the wiggling and ignition on/off tricks you can imagine - nothing works.
I don't understand why this should work for some people but not for others - there must be a simple explanation for it!
By the way, I put the resistors in the BLACK connector, NOT the grey one: I understand...
The glove compartment lid on my Clio rubs against the roll cage a little when I open it. I'd like to take it off to file down the outer edge.
Thing is, I can't work out how to get the damn thing off, does anyone know?
right folks, I have now stuffed various resistors into the black connectors under the bucket seats of my Trophy, but alas the damn airbag light stays firmly on.
Anyone know what might be the issue? After fitting the resistors, do I need to re-set anything? I didn't disconnect the battery while...
ABS robs you of a bit of brake feel and ultimate control, some people prefer to remove it for track use.
K-tec sell discs with and without the abs sensors, so they must be in there somewhere, does anyone know what they look like so I can check I've got the right ones?
Thanks for the input guys, that puts my mind nicely at ease (was pretty alarmed tbh - this being an ex-hillclimb / slalom car etc!)
Good excuse to swap the exhaust out for something a little more tuneful, although I must say the Trophy sounds far better than my old 182FF strangely enough -...
yeah I had it in my last clio as well - turned out to be a dodgy sensor that cost 10 quid to replace, just hope it's the same story this time.
I've posted the white smoke issue separately - do I need to be concerned about it?
When I get above 5000 rpm I get a bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust - like you get when the engine isn't warmed up on a cold morning.
Thing is, this is happening after half an hour of driving so the engine should be warm already. Considering it's minus 5 here right now, I'm thinking...
This came on this morning, is that bad? Immediate trip to the dealer or can it wait a few K for the next service?
Not sure if it's related, but when I get above 5000 rpm I get a bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust - like you get when the engine isn't warmed up on a cold morning...
The bloke I bought my Trophy from removed the ABS, apparently by fitting non-ABS rear discs.
I've just had some new discs delivered, which apparently have the integrated ABS sensor. Thing is, they don't look any different - what is the ABS sensor supposed to look like?
