I need a car for the 2009 trackday season...
Should I spend close to 3 grand getting my cup packed 182 prepped (cage, seats, etc) or should I trade down to a ph1 and spend the money I've saved on all the bits n pieces?
Will a ph1 feel as good on the track as my 182? I'm thinking specifically...
Thanks for the feedback. I understand that the side airbags are part of the oe seats (!) but I'm keen to retain the front airbags. I understand I'll need to get a resistor to acheive this and to get that warning light off.
Why do you have to get new subframes to mount the sidemounts onto...
Awesome, cheers for the info.
And the recaro side mounts fix to the cobra subframes with no issues? Would sparco side mounts also fit do you think?
So I just bolt the seat belt onto the subframe on one side and the buckle and pre-tensioner on the other side of the subframe?
I want to keep...
awesome looking car - like the new recaro.
do the Cobra subframes fit into existing bolt holes or do you have to drill new holes into the floor? Are they easy to fit?
Does the Recaro sit any lower than OE? Looked like your old Cobras were a bit lower, right?
How do you get around the...
Hi All, I have a Creative Zen MP3 player - any way to connect it up to the OE HU in a 182 FF ?
Will the HU read the MP3 player or do I have to scroll from the player itself?
Yeah the S1 can be a bit of a handful - lots of grip and plenty of information to let you know you're nearing the limit, but quite a sudden break away when it does go, like this:

Last track day of the season, managed to get my 182 and my bro's Elise lapping at the same time (we shared one membership throughout the year and usually used the Elise).
The cars were pretty evenly matched really - Clio faster in a straight line and in the tighter twisties, Elise better on the...
Yeah, you're right, apart from cruise control, a superior hifi, new exhaust, slightly more power, better power delivery (greater area under the graph giving better real-world performance), stiffer anti-roll bars, lower stiffer springs, stronger hubs, cooler wheels, optional front and rear...
Keep the cup and spend the money on fuel and tyres...
Whenever I consider trading my Clio in for something else, I head for the nearest B-road. Never fails to remind me why I love it so much.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter which RS Clio you have - the most important thing is to go...
Right you are - hence should feel a little quicker in a straight line (slightly higher power to weight, plus shorter gearing, should equal greater straight line punch).
Did you find any difference between the chassis of the 172 cup and 182 FF? I would have thought the 182 would be a little...
yeah too right - and they're FIA approved as well, so should be well up to the task.
I'm put off the OMP cage because the main hoop is too short and needs to be propped up on box sections, which is hardly ideal. I also don't like the look of the bolt-in sections (although they look sturdier...
Funny, I have a 182 FF with cup and aero packs) and am toying with the idea of trading it in for a 172 Cup - just seems a little more hardcore, being that it's a lot lighter and lacks ABS and ESP.
The gearing on the 182 is a fair bit longer too, so the 172 should feel a fair bit faster in a...
Quick question - when fittig buckets, can you maintain the existing seat sliders thereby allowing the seats to still be adjusted for height and fore/aft?
If you do keep the oe sliders, is it possible to get the seat any lower or will they still sit up high?
I'm thinking Recaro Pole...
save your money mate - you can pick up 172 cups these days for under 3k and by the time you've shelled out for alloys, induction kit, exhaust, sport bumpers, remap et you'll be halfway there.
I've just receive mz new alloys and will need some renault centre caps for them.
Can anyone tell me the size of the centra caps that come with the turinis used on the 172 cup? I'm not sure if they'll fit the wheel I have.
Part number would be most appreicated
Really? My 2005 182 doesn't rattle at all. Perhaps they get worse over time but I think it's a bit unfair to say they rattle like s**t isn't it?
Agree with the view that the Clio's a different animal, just can't compare!
ah yeah you're right, spacers it is then - or new alloys with the appropriate offset.
With the price of 1*2's right now though I can't see too many people doing this though to be honest.
what money? get a pair of wings (erm, in the correct colour) from a scrappy for next to nothing and fit them yourself.
"Only gain an inch or so on each side" ?? It's that extra width that lends the Sport such a square, agressive stance compared to the standard clio!
If you're going to...
Seems an awful lot of effort to allow you to keep the skinnier front wings - why wouldn't you just buy some sport wings from a scrappy - 247spares.com for example?
Interesting how much wider the sport front wings are huh? Wonder if the same goes for the rear...
That's actually not such a bad idea - could probably pay for the roll cage and a season on the track with the money I'd save as well ;)
Seriously though, someone must have pictures of the SD cage with the rear seats in??
