I'm getting fuel to the bore , pulled and cleaned all the plugs as they were wet.
I've just tried cranking it over with a led in each of the injector plugs one at a time and they all get a pulse, but by the time I got to the 4th it was very faint. What I did notice is when cranking that the...
Got my omex wired in yesterday with a full omex race loom,I am using a ford crank sensor with an omex booster box also feeding the standard crank signal.
Im getting fuel but no spark, when cranking im getting SYNC ON which indicates its picking up the cps but not getting any spark.
Ive been on...
Re: Road/Track 172
More parts arrived today :)
New timing belt kit, Engine Dynamics cams, ED cam timing tool, aux belt, dephaser and cam locking tool.
On the down side ive spent the last day and a half trying to get the car to fire up on Omex. Im getting fuel but no spark but I am getting a...
Final question hopefully :)
I got my loom through eventualy from Omex and the cam phase is just a single wire, wired into aux 2 on the ecu.
I called omex today and they said that this is a switched ground so I would need to run in another wire from an ignition fed live. Im going to cut off...
Morgan as above just cut the outer off of the phase 1 cable and feed it into the throttle body linkage, if you want a Jenvey cable to use pm me your address and I will post you one as I got 2 with my kit but never used them.
Re: Road/Track 172
Im not sure if I will ever fit the brakes as the set up on it justnow works fine, but they are rears from a 996 turbo and dont actualy have that big pad area. I would think they will be similar to the Megane brembos people fit but a little lighter.
Re: Road/Track 172
After seeing Swede Cup's caliper brackets I decided to have a look the posability of fitting a set of calipers Ive had lying for years at some point. Looks like brackets would be easy enough to make to fit 300mm discs.
Re: Road/Track 172
The trumpets I have are 60mm but I originaly bought Jenvey 25mm spacers as I was going to run a flat back plate, so needed them to clear the fuel rail. When I switched to the shaped backing plate I just fitted the spacers inside the box so trumpets are 85mm overall. I did...
Re: Road/Track 172
Waiting on the omex loom turning up today so thought I would try the set of 16mm spacers I bought on. Im going to run the 16's on the fornt and order up a pair of 15's for the rear.
Before
After
And then gave the tow bus a quick wash, I hate washing big cars
Ive not got a wideband Phil I sold all my guages when I got rid of my cosworths.
I had heard a MK1 16v lambda plugs straight in so that may well be the same one used on the phase 1, if it is my mate has one lying that I will get tonight.
If you could email me that map that would be great, my...
Just waiting on my loom turing up from Omex today hopefully, one think I havent checked is what Lambda sensor is needed to work with Omex?
Also does anyone have a calibration for standard engine with cams, jenvey 48's I could use to drive the car to be mapped(10 miles) Omex are sending me out a...
Re: Road/Track 172
This is what I mean about the trumpets, they have a larger bell mouth than the normal ones used on clios which are 88mm wide I think.
I also had a re-think on the fuel pipe rather than having the section of aeroquip hose sleeved and clamped over the original hose, which im...
Re: Road/Track 172
Got my new filter and backing box fitted today , still unsure if Im better to change my trumpets or not. Justnow they are 80mm long and 100mm wide so have had to be trimmed slightly as they overlap, with the new filter I think I could fit 110mm long trumpets.
I also...
Re: Road/Track 172
Ive just bought a pair of Sparco rev 2 seats , so the recliners in my car will be going up forsale soon. Im also in two minds justnow wheter to fit the 197 cams I have or go full hog and fit 421, 438 or similar.
old seats
new
Im home from work tomorrow so...
Will need to order some up when I get home next week, I got the Jenveys and injectors from Stu Collins with the white Jamsport Mk4 so took it they were a good choice for the bodies :dapprove:
Good to know Dan I got them with my Jenveys and noticed Jenvey sell them on there site so took it they paired up well, mmm might stick to standards or 225's.
Phil Im home from work on Tuesday and hope to get my car fired up some point next week on my Pico 480 injectors, once I know its running I will send down my 172 ones for you to try. Saves buying new injectors to find out its a wiring issue.
Ive just skipped through this post so has anyone tried there whole car yet?
Ive seen the youtube videos of cars in America being done and fancy trying it on my track car, for the price of a couple of nights out it must be worth a shot.
Re: Road/Track 172
Yip I would think you would be looking at around £500 for the works spec loom.
If you have the lead for the Omex you should be able to pull the file and email it , but to be honest I wouldnt have a clue how as never used Omex before.
Yes chip thats my point would have to be done by trial and error so could easily add up to more than the cost of proper cams, if i wasnt a 8 hour drive away I would just pay Mike to fit and time them.
I have offered to rent or buy a copy of Mikes timing tool as I thought it may be interesting...
Mike did you ever get a power run with these after more mapping ? You have PM
Im trying to decide whether to fit mine and pay for the time on the rollers to mess with the timing , or bite the bullet and buy uprated cams.
Re: Road/Track 172
To be honest Im not sure its getting sent to my mates house as Im offshore untill the 18th.
I think Omex do custom fit looms , if not try CW-looms , they seem to have a good name in the cosworth world.
