Treated my 172 to a full going over...pics

Well since the clio has had over £500 quid spent on her this month in the form of new rear discs n pads, service at GDI and a few touch ups from the bodyshop (plus a scratch that i did, oops!) i thought why not finish it off with a full going over, so i got prepared on saturday and here's the...

    fk coilovers Highsport vs Konigsport

i have the highsports on my 172. uber stiff, if i were buying again i would spend the extra and have the adjustable damping becuase on some roads its crap! far too crashy, not much travel, on a nice smooth road they are great. country roads are a nightmare. go on a road with a poor road...

    best components i can get....

40% installation, 40% setup, 20% kit imo! To be honest mate, no-one on here can tell you that ANY speaker is rubbish. If you like the sound of it then thats what you like. Just becuase some random guys off the internet didnt like it doesnt mean you wont either. Doesnt matter weather its a £30...

W6! best sub money can buy imo! perfect all rounmder, hard hitting bass but uber cool qaulity! would have these over any sub, which is why i bought two! nice design of the build, shame the trim finish isnt so good. tidy that up and its great! love howyou worked the brace. what amp have you...

    Insurance fronting rife?

ive always made a point of declaring mods on my cars, after i crashed my supercharged saxo i claimed. because i informed them of the mods they gave me £6000 on a 51 reg saxo! i proved what had been spent on it and made a decent amount back from the loss. all those who dont declare stuff then...

    Got Loooowwww

do you find your fk's noisy as such! rattly at all?

    Highway insurance

im with them now. messed up my reg too! other than they dont cover you on a courtesy car from a garage they have been fine. cant see me using them again though

    Stumped with front components choice

lol @ 3 grand!!! who actually buys them! id loved to know! just scanning through loads of old pics to try n find what i had! found pics of the genny's but not the JL's
  17. Sean.

    Stumped with front components choice

cant remember of hand, was 3 years ago mind. JL isnt the be all and end all of comps you know. Yes they may be good in your eyes but remember that a lot of car audio choice is down to personal preference. So the fact that you think they are amazing doesnt mean that i will too. Marmite kinda...

    Stumped with front components choice

used to own a complete JL system. Several JL amps, several JL subs and of course JL comps! was never hugely impressed.
  19. Sean.

    Stumped with front components choice

totally disagree, yes very highly rated but more for subs n amps really. for the comps not so much, £60 is a good price though :) ask yourself. will you personally tell the difference between a £60 speaker and a £120 speaker??? that will then help you decide on what to buy
  20. Sean.

    Stumped with front components choice

i run the 230 slx rainbows, very good speaker

    Clio Sport complete install...redone *pics*

cheers nick, yeah she's had some subtle changes. This is not to most people's taste especially with the track obsession (which ive been thru with my charged saxo) so this is a nice comfortable daily driver. never used on track so why not have a big stereo! did my tesco shop today, £70 worth...

    Cant get it In :-D

no thats the ecu! remove the tank behind that. just pulls up n off. if your using 4 gauge its incredibly difficult to get it through, but persist it will go eventually. anything smaller is very easy. anything bigger n i'd look for other means!

yes true but that sound reflection is ideally unwanted. or majority of it anyway.

    Clio Sport complete install...redone *pics*

lol, sorry to hear that mate ^^^ tompoms, you spotted it all mate, its all 100% removeable and i can restore the boot to std within minutes. There actually isnt much to this install. a bit of clever thinking and its worked nicely. I do think about resale values when i do things to the car...

    Show me your tweeters !!

I agree with parts of this... yes systems can be disjointed when just having 2 front channels playing and im a big fan of having some rear fill but imo (of course) having a full on set of comps in the rear doing what the fronts are doing is too much, I believe a perfect balance is either just...

    Show me your tweeters !!

Apologies to the guy whop i said had 6x9's on the rear shelf, they look distinctly oval in that picture! But even still, anything on the rear shelf is a waste of time. Even more sub with a sub in the boot.
  27. Sean.

    Show me your tweeters !!

oh and the 6x9's on the shelf says it all really! id put money on the car being super top end heavy and the sound stage being real far back. youd need to set the fader nearly 100% forward to ttry n cancel it out but that defeats the point of having speakers in certain places!
  28. Sean.

    Show me your tweeters !!

bad idea, will drag your sound stage right back, unless you sit in the back whilst listening to your car i suggest you dont fit them like that
  29. Sean.

    Clio Sport complete install...redone *pics*

cheers, took me a while, well worth it. i wanted to work it so that if i wanted to take the install out all i have to do is remove power earth remote n rca's from the distrubutors. All which would take about 1minute. Then the whole lot will pull out, saving me from disconnecting the whole lot...

    Clio Sport complete install...redone *pics*

yeah i run them for at least 30mins everyday. the hint sink on majority of amps is actually the cover inself. so having the majority of it on show means it can disepate heat quite well. Also behind the angled uprights is just fresh air. So the rest of the amp just sticks out the back. I'll...
