i have this on my 172 mate, common thing aparantly. Just from cold usually. Goes after the engine gets a bit of heat. Although since mine was serviced it hasnt done it.
mine isnt a cup chaps.
as for the RS stamp, i'll have a gander when they come off for you. being done this saturday so not long :)
other mods taking place - new handbrake cable!!!! lol
beautiful car, one of my favs!
may i ask how you afford such a car? eg large loan? good well paid job? generous parents? credit card hardcore maxing? years of savings?
would love to know as i earn a good wage for a 24yr old guy...over 30k per year...and i dont go out much, have a mortgage...
surely golfs have been done to death aswell.
twin engine lupo - not heard fo that before.
althought 1.8's would have been better for more hp, twin v6's is just pure braggin rights!
i choose my clio because it was the best of both worlds...coming from my supercharged track prep'd saxo and my daily driver KA i wanted rid of both and just one car. The clio was still pokey enough to amuse me but still had all the reliabilty and comofort for an every day driver. a nice amount...
your on the right lines mate, full exhaust system and decent intake system are a good place to start. I would start to think about brakes next...a good set of brakes is worth 10-15bhp on the road if used properly.
Engine wise i'd be looking at a set of cams to replace the std items. Catcams...
not a chance in hell a TU (VTS 16v lump) in relative std form will see 190bhp.
ive built engines for guys on the saxo club, all in NA spec. the most recent with cat cams, throttle bodies, high comp forged pistons etc didnt make 190bhp.
I ran a supercharged TU 16v and it only saw 250bhp...
Guys, im booked in to have my Clio 172 FF(52 plate) inlets matched.
Jamsport are doing a before and after run.
I have ITG panel filter and Ktec exhaust from CAT back. (with no centre silencer)
Power run will be done on this setup, then with matched inlets. This is being done in two weeks...
fitted one to my 172 about 10 months ago. noticed no difference what so ever.
easy to fit. takes 5mins tops.
ktec i got mine from
svaes buying new filters each service though :)
Hi all, in relation to my thread the other week about staring a new project car, ive come to the conclusion that id like to use my current car as the project and just get another daily driver...
But my main concern is resale value of my 52 plate 172, on 35k, full service history and 100% mint...
its the switch mate...renualt will supply you a newun for about £20ish. easy to fit! takes two mins, common fault. nothing to worry about although it is required for MOT purposes.
lol, glad you liked the marriage thing! i didnt actually say im doing this or we nor getting married. Just said that when we get married im doing somethin car related. she knows about my previous project and had to endure that so she knows the score with it all.
I like the sound of the gdi...
lol, GDI sourced it to a broken altenator wire..the reason for the intermitent problem was the wire connection to the altnator had seperated but was still held close so now n again it would come on ok again!
sorted though. good one for others to keep an eye on :)
thanks GDI for sorting it...
same here, i use the same earth point on the isofix bar for both my amps and i dont have any issues, std everwhere else in terms of big three and alt etc
never said ITB's are no different to cams. i said...its near as makes no difference twice the price of having it cammed. I know the gains of itbs over stock inlet etc etc
Thats put my mind at rest regarding the ICV. i think id want to see a car start up that was icey cold with my kinda setup...
lol, well obviously i want it too but with a wedding costing so much and its all for the bride really i said i wanna do this or something along these lines!
i was looking at that also, but near as makes no difference twice the price.
if i go ITB's then id fit them myself and go for setup at GDI (nearest to me)
my main reason for not going to itb's is ecu related. Ive had bad experiences in the past related to cold starts that i just need...
Hi all, recently ive decided that me n the mrs are gonna be gettin married.
Now this is something she has wanted for ages so i made a deal, we get married n i get something car related. Now ive trawled piston heads looking for a new car. Ive already done a supercharged saxo track car before...
Hi all, got in the car last night after work at 9:30pm. was fairly cold, 0deg maybe.
electrics were all fine prior to this moment.
So I get in, get the car started without problem, windows are all misted up as it is when its cold (but not icey) and i cant see so i drop down both side...
£700 all in for the basic cage without harness bars!
OMP cages are around £350 arent they and thats a full cage. even gettin a friendly welder to do the jub would come under £700-800!
i love how it fits to original mountings but thats masively steep!
