Is that what that little "nipple" is then? I've been meaning to ask for ages :)
I'll have to tell my mate about that, his Ph1 172 has been showing 40-50 degrees C for years now.
Anyone got any idea of the sort of ballpark figure I'm going to be looking at to get that sorted?
I want to know whether it's even worth phoning my insurance company up, £350 excess and all that :(
The probelm is, I'm not sure when it was done. It only got noticed this morning when my mate went to get into the passenger side and said "What happend to your car", but it wasn't there when i left work on Thursday.
Was parked in a car park in Ashford yesterday.
Some fracker has put a crease down the passenger side of my car!
Runs from the key hole all the way to the rear bumper!
NYAAARGH!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Not a happy bunny!
Yeah, I could do that, but I wanted to get a sports cat anyway, and I was reading somewhere on here that the 182 manifold is much better anyway, so might as well kill 3 birds with one stone so to speak.
Also if I don't spend the money on my car, I'll only waste it :rasp:
Having a look around the K-TEC site, I found this: http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=1560 (182 LOOK EXHAUST FOR 172 MODELS).
Which is pretty much what I wanted.
So for about £1200 I can get a 182 manifold, a sports cat and the exhaust look I want (I want to keep the exterior...
I needed two things for mine.
A car interface lead (AUTOLEADS-PC99-X12 I think), and a stereo interface adaptor. (in my case a PC99-SON (sony), though I suspect in your case it's a PC99-ALP)
I won't say this works because I haven't got round to fitting it yet :-) The main reason being that...
Hmm, well I already have the different bumper on it I think (it has the 2 semi circle cutouts already). (was like that when I bought it)
I'm planning on fitting a 182 manifold with a KTEC sports CAT anyway, so that takes 3/4 out of the equation surely? :-)
Would that make it a whole lot...
How difficult is it to have a 182 style exhaust on a 172?
Is it just a case of buying a 182 exhaust andd getting a friendly grease monkey to fit it, or would it have to be a whole cusstom jobbie?
Yeah, in Burham to be exact (between Maidstone and Chatham), sad to say, but temporailly living with my Mum :dapprove: until I can sort a new place of my own, as I moved back down from Leeds about 4 weeks ago for a new job down here, though will probably get a place down in Ashford as a bunch of...
Think I'd best get my car booked in to the garage then :dapprove:
On the plus side, after a little bit of googling, it seems that brake fluid and PS fluid are very similar beasts, so hopefully no permanent damage done, but we'll see.
Bugger
Serves me right for doing things while tired and cold.
Now the important question is, how different is hydraulic fluid for power steering from hydraulic fluid for brakes? Will it screw my power steering? I's rather take the small hit now and get it down to a Renault shop and get...
Taking a closer look at my manual today.
I have a feeling that when I topped up the brake fluid a couple of weeks back, I may have actually topped up the power steering resevoir with brake fluid instead :S
Should I get down to a garage and get it flushed out?
Yeah, I need to take it out round some country roads and give it some beans, but my boots still full of crap as I'm sort of halfway in the process of moving house, so everytime I throw it around things go flying :dapprove:
Once it's empty again I'm gonna take it for a proper weekend drive in...
I'm living just outside Maidstone at the moment, just moved back down from near Leeds for a new job 4 weeks ago (got made redundant, got 6 month salary pay off, got new job 5 weeks later, sprung £5k on the car :)).
it just ticked over the 50,000 mark yesterday.
As a birthday treat for it I took it for a great thrashing down the motorway. Speedo said 140MPH, but GPS said 133 (which I'm more inclined to believe), decided to back off there as I was approaching maidstone and there's some nasty dips in the...
Lucky for you you were only doing a 40 min journey, I was driving up to the Leeds area :-(
Didn't arrive until about 4, and had to push 95 all the way to make it there by then. Got to love StaNav with speed camera locations on it :-) Though have to hate all of the "Average Speed Check" areas...
I was down in Ashford on Wednesday flying around with my mate. Two 172's, both silver, one a ph1 with a big can on it (his), one a ph2 standard (mine).
I should be moving down there in a month or two, so I'll look out for you all :-)
Had a ClioSport.Net sticker in the rear window, got caught in the traffic on the M11 early saturday afternoon and was in front of me for a mile or 3 while we crawled along.
Female, blonde, glasses, quite cute ;)
I was in the Silver 172 behind you.
hmm, if the brake fluid is low, it must be spectacularly low as i put 1/2 a bottle in when it first started doing it (being thats what the manual said it was)
I'll check my pads out instead.
Every so often, especially if I am on a bumpy road or going up hill, the STOP and (!) (brake wraning light) will flicker on and off.
I'm assuming that my discs or pads need changing, or is it an electrical fault.
Strangely, they sometimes come on when stationary, but tend to go off if I...
Heh heh, everyone asks me that :), but it did actually get really stolen, came out of the flat one Saturday afternoon to find an empty space where it was parked the night before. :(
heh heh, yeah, the R5GTT did tend to give out the "I'm gonna go bang" vibe out when you pushed it. Crazy acceleration though.
I used to have no end of troubles with the cooling system, and the electrics, and breaking engine mounts. In the end someone stole it though :(
My 172 just feels...
I want to replace the standard head unit in my '03 172 (ph2?).
Want somethingg that plays MP3's, not bothered about iPod interface, has to have bluetooth.
I'd like to still be able to use the 6 CD changer that came with it (an Alpine unit I believe), and also use the current sterring column...
Greetings.
After several years of being carless, I needed a car to get to work again.
I've wanted one for years (ever since my best mate bought one when they first came out), so I am now the proud owner of a 2003 Clio 172 in silver.
Currently all standard, but I might be making some minor...
