Any 320 ( Or merc 3.0 v6 TD ) can be taken to 265 bhp from the standard 220 bhp for about £295 - ive fitted a few of these and they take about 15 minutes to do. It makes a hell of a difference !!!

If you own one of these you could sell it and retire from the proceeds - 1964 Ford Thunderbolt 427
100 were made and they ran 11's straight out of the factory - one recently went for $1,6000,000 at the barrett jackson auctions

If its just something to bring a smile to your face then personally i would fit Nitrous. 10lb bottle in the boot with a progressive controller and a 50 hp jet. Fit a toggle switch onto the acc pedal and away you go - 13.5's all day long
Try an emissions test or just unbolt it ( secure the rest of the ex system ) and take it down the motorway.
Also rev the engine with the bonnet up and get somebody to check the engine as your revving - keep your eyes on the airfilter inlet pipe. As they get old they contract under...
cats prob knackered and blocking ex gases - common on the E7J engine. Also check airfilter and airfilter duct pipes - if theres a blockage or a silly filter on there it will struggle breathing.

Better still drop the VAG 1.8T engine in instead - more reliable, more power and very very tunable
Going about this in a complicated way - just buy a 172 ECU kit off a salvage car. Make sure it comes with the UCH, ECU, PLIP key and the immobiliser code or chassis number off the Donor vehicle.
Done lots of these conversions and there dead simple - ive got an ECU kit for sale with codes for...
Had a few C4's - good motors. LT1 is good but LT4 is the one to go for. C5's are cheap now. You can pick a 99 LS1 ( Z51 package ) for around £15k. If you can afford go for the C5 as the drive is superb
Can get clutches built very cheap that will be able to handle 240 bhp no messing. A lot of the lads in the drag racing circuit use this bloke

Buy a complete donor kit off a salvage 172. Get the ECU, the key, the UCH and the chassis number off the salvage car, that way then you can obtain the immobiliser code from Renault to code the key in / order a new key.
Easy conversion.
This has to be the bargain of the century !!!!
