I keep getting phone calls off people enquiring about rear load sensing valves as there car ( 172 cup ) has failed the MOT or had an advisory.
Here is a little tech note to help you out. Please print this off and pass it on to the MOT tester - they arent meant to have them and this will...
Could be numerous different things
1 - immobilser ( key needs recoding / repairing / replacing ) - does the red immobilser light constantly flash as your turning it over ?
2 - TDC Sensor
3 - Throttle body
4 - ECU ( metal protection cover rubs on loom and shorts system out )
5 -...
Side of the heater box ( lift scuttle panel and you can see it ) it will either have cooling fins ( like an amp ) or square metal casing with holes drilled through it.
If youve hit a pot hole / had a bump this is a very common fault. The rear seat belts have a locking device in them which triggers off in an impact ( to stop the passenger from shooting forward ) once these have fired off you cant repair them - you have to replace them. You will also need to...
Clutch cable is self adjusting on these.
If its ticking over in neutral and starting to engage drive i would confirm that as a worn clutch plate. Stick it in high gear on a hill and try to move forward - if it revs as you drive off ( revs will increase ) it will be the clutch
No - this is on the passenger side above the bonnet release handle ( up behind inside of dash ) Its a sealed unit and you cant repair them. Unplug it - leave it for 5 minutes and reconnect it. The problem may go away. If not a new one is £197.19 + vat part number 8200621763. You cant fit a used...
The D7F 720 engine is whats fitted in your motor
I assume the belt kit you bought came with a tensioner ? I would squirt WD40 on the tensioner whilst the engine is running at 2 - 3k rpm ( wedge acc pedal or ask a mate to sit in the car ) If the noise goes just change the tensioner.
When...

It wont work with the new key you got. The plip keys are coded to the ECU and UCH. If you take a plip off another car with the reciever unit and fit it to your car it wont start and they immobiliser may kick in. If your reciever ( next to interior light ) was wet you first of all need to solve...
1 - disconnect battery - connect / retry
2 - Turn igntion on and off 3 times very fast whilst holding down trip computer button on end of stalk ( system check ) should reset clocks
3 - check fuel tank sender unit - repair / replace
4 - check clocks - repair / replace
Sounds like the engine temperature sensor. This is basically the Automatic choke. When the engine is cold it detects this ( located in thermostat ) and increases the fuel / air mixture - when the car warms up it decrease's back to normal. If the engine temp sensor is faulty it will do this even...
Could be numerous things - nothing major though.
When the SERV light is on it will record the specific fault on the ECU. A diagnostic tool ( preferably the Renault Clip ) will unlock the fault and tell you exactly what the fault is. Usually a small part will need replacing or you may be able...

Make this a sticky ??
1 - check fuse ( side of dash )
2 - check connections to headlight
3 - check xenon bulb
4 - check charger pack ( bolted to underside of headlamp )
5 - replace if need be ( 3 or 4 )
My diagnosis would be charger pack
The micro switch on the circuit board has come off - split the key and solder it back on. It should work perfect after this.
New keys cost £120 + vat supplied and coded - repair this one then if you wish order a new one from Renault
1 - Check the bottle has water
2 - clean nozzles with a fine needle ( pull from bonnet and disconnect - try the washers with the nozzles disconnected )
3 - check pipes for leakage ( disconnect at each joint to eliminate pipe blockage ) and T pieces
4 - check pump ( supplies front and...
ahhh right - that old tale
Common fault this when you turn your wipers on and the wiper arms are frozen to the windscreen - it shorts the UCH out. Will need replacing more than likely. Before you do this check all the Relays in the fuse box near the battery. If there all OK it will a new UCH...
