LOL.
I dont see the point in this.
The amount you would spend making it look like an RS, would pay for the insurance on a proper one. WTF is the point? And people will only laugh when they burn you off in a Micra.
Agreed - thats what i am concentrating on, only "engine" mod i've done is blueflame exhaust and even that was mostly for the sound. I'm going for uprated brake pads and lines next and when the discs are gone i'll go for some carbon discs too. Eventually I'll probably stick some Bilsteins on it.
Hi Fred... it was your site i was looking at.
Well if the green stuff ones will be sufficient i may as well just go with those. I never track the car anyway. I take it that the green stuff ones are a good improvement on OEM?
Will I need new brake fluid, is that recommended or shall i just...
Oh and another thing, are DS2500's worth the extra over say Green stuff pads? I notice on yozzasport the DS's are twice the price.
Edit: OK forget that question, i've just searched - i think i'll still go with the DS2500s.
OK, i'm pretty sure i need new brake pads.
I'm also pretty sure i want to upgrade them to Ferrodo's for increased braking power. I will also change the hoses to braided ones for better performance too.
One question though, do i need to change the fluid with all this, or will the existing...
Well i think its the pads to be honest.
They've started squeeking again (all the time). Not only that, but the brake pedal was a bit spongey at times and for the first time ever, the brakes were fading a bit... I wasnt even using the brakes all that heavily.
I think its new pad time.
I VERY nearly hit one once in my Fabia vRS when i had it. Same as you, no time to brake (or react). Luckily for me, it kept running. My underwear went in the bin afterwards.
I had several close calls yesterday, with 3 seagulls, a pheasant and a goat!
Must admit i've seen two of these in the flesh and they look a lot better in the metal than they do in photos. I think they look quite nice. I still wouldnt buy one though. If I was wanting a 197, i'd let someone else take the hit on depreciation, because one thing you can guarantee: just like...
Sometimes, pretty rarely mind, i can be driving along and the STOP and handbrake lights on the dash will light up. They usually go out again within a few seconds. Any ideas what might be causing this?
So basically, i am confused also: is there no aftermarket suspension options at present that will go on a non cupped 182?
I am a bit concerned about that, especially since to be honest, i wasnt really clued up on the differences at the time when i bought mine (between cup and non cup), and...
In what respect is a beemer that much more to run?
Its fuel economy for starters, is actually better. And I doubt servicing is all that much different. I cant see a 330 being much more to run than an ST. And a 330 at the same price as an ST (say a 2 or 3 year old 330 versus a new ST) will...
True... and i'm sure with its 4 pots the 197 does have very good brakes.
However, drive a Fabia vRS on its standard brakes with a remap, and you will see what poor brakes really means ;)
Nice.... i'm happy for you, i would like a VX or Elise one day too....
One thing I have noticed though... is there something of a sheep mentality on this forum? I noticed a couple of months ago, someone got a Type R, next thing I know, everyone seems to be getting them. Then last month it was...
What makes you think the speed of an ST (which as stock, isnt much faster at all) wont become familiar just as the 182?
If you want a fast car thats comfy (which is what the ST is) then get a proper car like a BMW 330 Ci or similar, with a proper engine and RWD, so handles better.
Oh and as for the 197, i'm sure its ok. I dont like the look, and its too big and heavy and probably too refined for my tastes. If I want that, I'll buy a BMW thanks. I'm done with hot hatches after the 182. They just dont appeal any more. After having the mk2 golf, i'm not really convinced any...
I dont agree the brakes are poor. Any car that can rival supercars for 100-0 stopping power (i.e. 172 + 182) cant be that bad. I've never had them fade either.
Every car I've ever had, on the owners club forums they ALWAYS say the brakes are poor. I just dont get this. Maybe if I had driven a...
40% and the rest.... if it only lost 40% that would be good. I cant see it being worth £10k after 3 years TBH, especially once they start with the discounting (which they will, because lets face it, they arent gonna sell many @ £16k+).
Not to mention the fact, depreciation in about 2 or 3 years will be almost crippling. Think about it, RRP of the 182 is about £15k and yet after 1 year they are fetching £11k tops.
You know as well as I do theres more to driving fun than speed ;)
I still maintain, although it may not be a popular view on this forum in view of the fact there seems to be a mindset of bigger/more expensive = better, that I still wouldnt swap my Clio for a Megane, not now, not ever.
It is the end of the story, as far as I'm concerned.
We dont have any choice in the matter. If we dont like it, then its tough shite, because its here to stay. That doesnt mean to say that I will get to like it, or that anyone who presently likes the 182 will come to like this. I think some...
