Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
You don't need adjustable pulleys, only if you remove the vanos do you need an alternative pulley. the only advantage is the OE pulleys are a bit heavy vs ali ones
Ermm where do i start! cambelt had jumped, however valves were saved because the exhaust cam bolt wasn't tight and the pulley slipped too! also found the flywheel bolts were very loose, and btw i wasn't the last one to build the engine!
the cams aren't at top dead center they are 180 out, so you have in fact got no4 at top dead center. What you have said has just about covered it, tensioner, cam bolts etc. That amount out shouldn't cause it not to idle it's not that far out

the original Blue Ranger is a serious team member and represented "the smart one"
Until his departure, he was considered the brains of the power rangers team, creating many gadgets with which to solve problems that not even Zordon foresaw
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Anyway f0xy, stop being a girl, you can still drive it with no clutch, start it in gear, and balance the throttle.......
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
We sorted the cambelt last night as it was trying to make it's way off the pulleys! maybe due to being too tight, not sure. the noise is still there but only at a certain rpm, approx 2k, like a resonating noise, not sure if it's the oil pump..... but the...
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
Come to think of it, it does sound a bit like that. I'll be taking the piss out of chris if it is that lol!
He's got a seized f7p if that's any help lol
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
i confirmed with chris that the light is working fine, so must have oil pressure, i believe he didn't change the idler pulley on the cambelt because it was ok, but that's the only thing i can think of
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
you can't use the pressure switch, it a switch and the pressure sender is a varible resistor. he's got oil pressure due to the light going out, and testing the pressure warning light ok.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I was approximating, even so, i recon it'll weigh at lest 200 kgs less than standard. i was also going on my figures too, which could be a bit out ,as i gain about 2.3 bhp for every 10kgs i lose.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
best is 14.1, but only had one decent run and it was overheating! that was with loads of wheelspin. Have a few issues with launches, had no probs when it was standard, but now it's a toss up between wheelspin and loads of wheelspin
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
It's not doing 11 second 0-100, there will be at least a 5% speedo error, but even so it will be quick. how much does the lambo weigh tho? a 200 bhp caterham 7 will piss all over a lambo to 100, because it only weighs 400 kgs! i recon f0xy's is a lot...
