Knocking and clunking noise's when ful throttle?

^that or the top engine mount. Read my recent thread about vibrating issues to help you diagnose it.

172 cup clicking sound from passenger front wheel

Driveshaft joints? My drivers side is knackered and makes a clicky noise on tight turns

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

Right so the problem in the end was the top engine mount, basically under acceleration the mount was kicking back and hitting the mount surround. Smoking kills but sometimes an empty fag pack comes it handy for diagnosis! You can actually see where there should have been a rubber bumper...

Is it ok to use petrol/wd40 to clean a throttle body?

Yep spot on, cheers for the advice everyone. Also gave my panel filter a clean and oil which probably helped!

Is it ok to use petrol/wd40 to clean a throttle body?

Ph2, right all fitted and the car idles perfect now (touch wood) at about 800rpm, needle sits perfectly still whereas it used to be up and down like a yo yo. After i had a think about it i came to the conclusion that if the butterfly was to shut 100% then it wouldn't idle because no air would...

Is it ok to use petrol/wd40 to clean a throttle body?

I can manually push it to 100% shut but then it just springs back when i let go, normal?

Is it ok to use petrol/wd40 to clean a throttle body?

Ok, iv just taken it off and inside is pretty dirty, also iv noticed that the butterfly doesnt seem to be shutting 100%, iv got a couple of pics here. Should it close completely flat is in 90degrees to the housing?

Is it ok to use petrol/wd40 to clean a throttle body?

As above really, don't have any brake/carb cleaner and want to get the job done now if possible and petrol or wd40 wont be a problem? Thanks

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

Iv just been looking around the engine bay and noticed this piece of what is like headlining floating very close to the aux pulleys. How should this be fixed?

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

And there was me thinking I was going to have a day of doing sweet FA tomorrow! :dapprove: Was it your upper gearbox mount bracket? Am I right in saying that there is 1 mount right below battery, 1 to the top left of engine and then the dogbone?
  15. Paddy_g46

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

Yeah I suppose they will but after it happened I drove up to 60mph on the D/C and there was absolutely no problem with steady driving, a buckled alloy would cause issues at this speed I would have though. I am pretty sure something has moved and is vibrating against something It shouldn't be...

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

same as that in the majority of cases hence why I don't have the need to slow down and go over them with 1 wheel, it would just be pointless.
  17. Paddy_g46

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

ok, well thanks for the advice on my driving but if you had any advice on the problem I now have it would be much appreciated.
  18. Paddy_g46

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

I very much doubt it would be that tbh. it only happens under "hard" acceleration, if it was a wheel weight surely it would be doing it all the time? Well I was going slow enough to drive "over" it with a wheel each side of it but because someone pulled out from a driveway it made me swerve...

Bloody speedbumps! Hit 1 and now have vibrating problems....

So I have just been out and had to swerve to avoid a t**t who pulled out on me meaning that instead of driving straight over 1 of those square speed bumps my right wheel hit it dead on. Was a fair whack when I hit it but didn't think anything of it. At the next junction when I went to pull out I...

Rang your woodford and wembley branch today and they both said they only give 1 year on exhausts, bit of a bummer!

Has anyone found a decent non-genuine exhaust replacement?

Ah right, so they defo offer 2 years on their systems? Glad you told me that, I was getting a bit pissed off at having to shell out even more cash on it. So even though the website only shows react they have klarius aswell? Also why does the website show 2 rear boxes for the 172 both made by...

Has anyone found a decent non-genuine exhaust replacement?

Has anyone found a decent non-genuine exhaust replacement?

Can anyone answer this? Bit difficult without a ramp, have you got a pic of your system?
  28. Paddy_g46

Has anyone found a decent non-genuine exhaust replacement?

It's a klarius one that I have on there now that is giving me troubles. trhe baffles in the centre box are rattling about sounding horrible and the rear box has a hole in it where the hanger has been welded onto it and over time it has split. I have only had them on there for about 14 months and...
