Do I sell with mods.... or not??

You're in a very small minority though, for most cars and the Trophy particularly the biggest market for buyers is standard cars. Sometimes I think it's a psychological thing though, as people like to make "their" owen changes even if they're the same changes!!! lol

To be fair most of those are self-inflicted lol

    Not enjoy my new 182

What were you expecting from a diesel Audi A4? :p Tbh you can't compare a diesel Audi A4 to a BMW 330ci, there's a big difference! One's got a great engine and chassis, the other doesn't!

    helicoil spark plug holes

Can't see it being any more common than in any other cars (ie not very common!). Usually it's when they work loose then blow out ruining the thread. I've had a spark plug helicoiled in-situ in my 205GTi (plus was loose and it worked itself out then blew out wrecking the first few threads and a...

The worst thing about your clio

You have to be joking!? The 206's interior is awful, really plasticy and cheap feeling, the Clio feels so much better inside. There is no bias, coming from owning a 205 since 1998 and I don't own a Clio anymore but my girlfriend owned a 1.2 16v and a 182 FF. Especially the 182, the interior is...

    Not enjoy my new 182

LOL, I don't think so. I think it's because you're coming up with some bizarre reasons not to like it, like it feels too "powerful" round town. It's not the cars fault is it! How do you think people with really quick cars get on? they don't stop at the kerb because they have "too much power" to...

The worst thing about your clio

The driving position isn't too bad, I find the main difference with many other cars is the angle of the steering wheel, in the clio it isn't as vertical as many cars. Yes the seat's a bit too high but I'm sure that can be lowered, never noticed any problems with pedal or gearstick position. It's...

New tyres question - get rid of new budget tyre?

What like? Some go faster stripes or an "air filter" or a s**t sounding aftermarket exhaust? :P Seriously £100 saving or extra cost on tyres is not a lot when it's one of the biggest aspects of any car. The car will probably handle better too, not just on the limit but in terms of tracking...

    Vmaxx'ed 182FF and New Wheels!!

Is that right that you're running R888 front tyres with some normal road tyres on the back??

    Max load in boot

That should be fine, two adults would weight more than the engine anyway, the max load would probably be 3 adults in the back seats plus luggage, so one engine shouldn't be a problem. The main concern is to make sure it's stable.

    Is Stripping the car bad?

Yes, very few people want a car with half the interior missing. Also the rear bench seats weigh absolutely nothing so there is no real weight saving vs the big increase in noise. Yes it all adds up but it's not that heavy to start with.

Clio 182 vs New Cooper S

I agree with whoever said the new new Mini looks a bit "odd", it definitely doesn't look as nice as the original new Mini. They sit too tall, and the front end is now not quite as nice IMO - the original Cooper S sat perfectly from the factory.

My New Clio DCi 100 :D finally!!

I don't think it's too big an issue IMO as it's visible to anyone passing the car in the windscreen.

Is 4.2k too much for a rb 182 on 103k miles

A private buyer doesn't always necessarily work to rigid formulae for prices though and this means higher milers that are very tidy might be considered an option where the trade would just not entertain it purely because its perpetuated in the trade that miles kills values disproportionately...

Is 4.2k too much for a rb 182 on 103k miles

Stop selling yourself short, you've been reading to much crap on this forum!! If it's a tidy standard car it will go for good money. Most of the other "mint" ones you may be basing a market value on can in reality be tatty. Of course I don't know the condition of your car! Also, if it's modified...

changed brake fluid today and rear brakes doing nothing

If it was in the air with the wheels drooping then a loading sensitive compensator would mean the rears wouldn't have much braking effort like you've found? Assume a load on it by put it back on the ground or activating the compensator and it has then added effort.

Is 4.2k too much for a rb 182 on 103k miles

A modern engine like these should be good for 200k as long as they're look after. The fact it's done this mileage suggests a lot of it's motorway/commuting. Go off the service history/condition, £3k is a giveaway IMO and is just going with the strange theory cars don't work over 100k miles...

    FRS 500

Yea it probably would do! Will take a lifetime to show return as an "investment" though, even getting £20k 7 years later you've lost because you've basically had to store the car 7 years to get no money back, and £20k now will be worth less than £20k 7 years ago. It's will always be better to...

    FRS 500

Yes I agree it's very good! my comments were in response to army200 who suggested they are appreciating classics, they are not, they're just holding decent prices (but still well under new price).

    VW's dont rust...dont they?

Has it not rusted because it's low with big wheels that have caught the arch at some point?
  24. C

    FRS 500

I'm not sure what you mean? Looking at MK1 Focus RS' many are around £8-£11k, I'm sure new they were £25k? that's a hefty drop but not bad for the age of the car. To get appreciating like the silly RS500 values it will take decades IF they will appreciate that is, and I don't think they will...

Peoples experiences with buying their 182

I would argue the wider track/stance and wheels of the Cup'd 182 set it apart from the 172, it really does make a difference IMO. When I see 172s they don't look quite as good to me, even if it's only a small difference it's there. Black Gold or Liquid Yellow with both Cup packs, Racing Blue...

    PH1's at rock bottom ?

An early Silver phase 1 can look nice but in general they just haven't aged as well as the masterful facelift design that is the phase 2, which still looks nice/fairly fresh today in Sport form. Interior too is well ahead in the phase 2 too.

Peoples experiences with buying their 182

I wouldn't say well overpriced at all, especially not by £1k, that would make it £4995 and that also looks like a very clean tidy car to me. What doesn't help that ad is the list of modifications IMO.
  28. C

    FRS 500

I don't think it's centred around that, just that it isn't all scientific magic that gives it good traction; if you made the Focus weigh around 1050kg, put 205/45/16 wheels and tyres on it, an open diff, then report back with your results :p
  29. C

    FRS 500

I didn't think it's available in all gears though is it? That goes hint at the compromised nature of FWD, although 320lb/ft is still impressive in any gear!! But the comparions to a Clio are pointless, two different cars really, the only common aspects is that their FWD and hatchbacks, but...
