I'm sure an LSD and much larger tyres helps though!
The RS500 Focus is getting a bit of slating on pistonheads http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=831055&mid=39334&i=0&nmt=RE:%20Ford%20Reveals%20Focus%20RS500&mid=39334
When I was selling my Black Gold FF with both Cup Packs recently I didn't see many of the same spec, although there were two others (probably still for sale?). Loads of racing blue and silvers ones about though of mixed spec. I agree Liquid Yellow is a very desirable colour, and so is the...
That sounds fine to me, at least the rear will have "most grip" front the softer tyres in theory and the fronts will last longer and stand up to a trackday better than the softs would on the front.
The bulbs to use in lense like this are H7R HID bulbs like in Renault Lagunas (like 51 reg shape) and some Volvos. They use open reflector housings that look like halogen lamps but are actually HID. The R bulb refers to "reflector" and it has a ceramic coating on the bulb itself to deflect...
The Megane goes well, pity the 106 wasn't so well driven! you find a groove straight away after overtaking him and it shows immediately. Some of his lines are terrible - it would be a fair bit faster if he found the apexes! You can see the advantages of R888s on the 106 in the 2nd video - even...
I think a 6-speed conversion using the 197 gearbox would be a nice modification, more for the shift quality than for the 6th cog! (although it'd make the gearing shorter overall anyway!). Although the 182 box is ok, the 197 shift is very very nice.
Diesels as trackcars don't work, it will feel rubbish even if it's just from an aural and driver's perspective rather than actual performance. Might feel fantastic on the road, but on track you want revs!
Yes, they'll probably say DS2500 are s**te :p
There's a world of difference between DS2500 and DS3000 though. The latter is great pad, classed as a "Race" pad but it actually works well from cold, just gets better when hot and offers immense stopping power (feels like an all-in-one big...
Focussing on the number of owners is something I've never fully understood. The current condition reflects the car far better than 1-owner or 20 owners does IMO.
People loving "the top pic" must be looking at a different picture to me - it looks laughably hideous! Like an S-class rear 1/4 has been grafted on the back. Flared arches can look great but not that kind. And then they've put "Fox" alloy wheels on it lol
I thought Subaru learned not to make...
That's because they're much cheaper than the ones with half that mileage! :)
A bit of both is the ideal, I'm not too put off by high miles but it is still a problem for many people (the 100k threshold particularly) and sometimes a factor if you don't intend to keep the cara longer as...
Just get new OEM spec discs and some decent pads.
DS2500s are relatviely expensive, very dusty and can give judder/vibration IME.
EBC Yellowstuff are a better alternative, otherwise look at some decent Pagid RS pads but they won't be cheap!!
I'm surprised they made it to production stage as they have only small rubber spots for grip and can be very slippery when wet. However I didn't have any major issues but if you're only half of hte pedal etc your foot can slip off.
DS2500 pads are junk IMO so don't waste your money. Even more important are some decent pads at the Ring, not because of it being hard on brakes (it's not in the general scheme of things compared to say Oulton Park), but it's the temperature/thermal shocks that cause most judder issues. For...
If I was looking I would try and get a Dci 100, I couldn't find one when I briefly tried in 2008 (saw two 80s advertised as 100s though). I bet a 1.4 is quite a good balance between mpg and power but then so is a 172/182!!!
With the DCis they seem to give mega mpg it's hard not to take notice...
lol, I understand what you're saying but for those that would buy it it would be someone knowingly buying/insuring a car under false pretense that it's a 80bhp diesel. Also, I was thinking in terms of getting a reasonable price for it, yes it will probably sell but not for much after you find...
I would guess not and guess that under the circumstances he "beat" the RS4, maybe in traffic, roadcraft etc.
Nothing seems to agitate people more than someone calmly getting somewhere faster without obvious speed or aggression by using better road position/lanes etc.
You have the launch technique sorted perfectly, that's where most of the big time differences come from between the cars. I think I raced you years ago at York (was in a red 205 Mi16) as soon as the lights went you were already 5 car lengths ahead!!! the gap stayed the same but your time was a...
That is mainly the problem on here! It now also seems that one scam advert can potentially drive them down further lol Needless to say when I sold my 182 recently I didn't really bother advertising on here (well maybe once in a cheeky post in someone's thread about 182s hehe). Advertised around...
If you have a brand new pair of T1Rs on already it makes sense to get another pair of those so you ahve 4 tyres all round, it must be over 10years since I've owned a car with mixed tyres. If I've bought one that has been I've binned them for 4 new ones the same all round.
Handling balance...
R888 vs Parada 2 is just not a sensible comparison - one is a full on trackday tyre, the other yet another "not bad in the dry" Yokohama road tyre. They'll be a massive difference in dry grip level.
Hankook RS2s are definintely worth a look now Toyo are being stupid with R888 pricing (gone up...
