Camden Northampton are animals, everything about them is sh*te. On one occasion they put 100 miles on my car and admitted that they hadnt even looked at the problem, i went ape!!
Anyone with a Road Angel or the like did you know that you can use this as a Sat Nav GPS receiver. Just got mine set-up using an iPAQ 3950 and Tom Tom navigator software, loads cheaper than the factory fit option and you can take it from car to car!
The road angel has the Gatso/Specs/Truvelo protection. I went through the Specs the other day, it even gives you your average speed through the sets of cameras.
I still havent found one of the mobile cameras to see how effective it is against one of them, i will let you know!
If you are in a line of cars you should get a signal from the detector giving you time to adjust your speed, if you are the only car the detector will alert you but it may already be too late!
Ive just had these fitted to my 172, loads better than the contis, much grippier, nice tread pattern too!!
Supposed to be better that the Toyos, not knocking the Toyo its a great tyre for the money, at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
Shop around I was quoted from £130 to...
Blackspot (Road Angel manufacturers) are based in Silverstone, just a few miles from me, they have said that I can come down and test one.
Am I likely to have problems due to the heat reflecting windscreen?
Cup172, I asume from your post that you dont have the reradiating aerial, why do...
Has anyone got one of the detectors? If so what do you think?
Ive heard this is one of the best on the market at the moment and it appears to do everything that you would want (within reason!!).
Any comments welcome.
Thnaks.
Mine went in about 4 times for the exact problem mentioned above, your best bet maybe to print off this thread (or search for similar ones) and take that down to them. This is what I did last time and they replaced the whole exhaust (£275+ VAT they are billing Renault for the warranty work)...
Chris,
do you want to get rid of your standard wheels, I would be interested in a couple if they are unkerbed (to replace my kerbed ones (bloody women!!))
Thanks,
Stuart.
I dont know what your moaning about, I would chop my left leg off to get 30mpg, mine is usually 24mpg! This is using Optimmax and usually just short runs. I notice when it gets a bit of a thrash the economy is better.
Come to mention it on the track day i got a better mpg than day to day...

So the cup may be a couple of tenths of a second quicker than a standard 172, big deal!
For that small difference is it worth missing out on all the extra spec?
I dont think so!!

Just been reading the post regarding the warranty issues that mentioned a few people that have had the 4k rattle. I have had this since the car was new it has been into the dealers 3 times, each time the rattle has come back. I couldnt be bothered to let the useless twa*s have it for another 10...

Watch out for some of these 3rd party warranties they are pants!! I had one from motorpoint, when I had a problem they listed 2 back street garages in my area that they would authorise to perform repairs!!
Of course unmarked cars can do you...... providing the speedo has been calibrated! The area cars Astras and the likes dont have the speedos calibrated.
