Why don't you try with the Live CD before you upgrade?

Can't you just load the Live CD and then connect as many iPods as you want, and then mount your NTFS drive to access all your information (that's if it doesn't already mount it)

Did the boot disc work for you?

Use Offline NT Password & Registry Editor from here (http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm) download the CD image, then boot from that and follow the instructions, works a treat with Windows XP, noever tried it with Vista.

Check the hosts file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and make sure that it hasn't got a 192.168.0.1 entry. Also what make is your router, if you know this then you can usually search the default on the net.
