Just a quick update, not really done a hugh amount but as i want the clio back on the road in february I got a couple more bits done on the car, the first being the Pure-motorsport top mount and strut brace, fitting was very simple and I was pleased with the quality and fit of the combo...
Just to add the way i read it the new test items come in in january but from then until may these items will be a advisory and then from may on they will becomes failures.
The 'cups' use the same wishbone/ball joints as all other 172/182 so the issue must be else where. It's the front hubs that give the different track and also more castor.
Ordered mine on tuesday, arrived yesterday and fitted today.
Very nice fit, it was made a little harder to fit as renault had done their bodge on the top mounts by oval-ising the hole a bit. Got there in the end though and also gave me a opportunity to get the camber bolts in.
A crap phone pic...
The rear beam is attached to the car at two points, even though the two wheels are bolted to the same single beam they can still move independently due to the designed in flex in the beam. By attaching a thick bit of metal to the beam you add resistance to the flexing action.
I'm no expert and i've never fitted one to a clio but do have experience on past cars.
My understanding is it reduces the roll of the car which in turn keeps the car flatter during cornering which will increase grip as tyre contact is more, also as the rear of the car becomes stiffer in the...
When you corner and one side of the car is under more load than the opposite side the rear beam twists, fitting the whiteline arb stiffens up the beam so it will twist less keeping the rear of the car flatter.
I've been on mine all afternoon and started by doing the update, been perfect all day long. I can honestly say i've never had any issues with updates either.
Here is a section from their website
Suck it up
Our final suggestion is good, old-fashioned suction power. Switch on your vacuum cleaner and watch it forcefully remove all standing water – and any unwanted dust or dirt – in mere moments. Of course, the danger here is that anything not bolted...
On the gadget show they done a thing on what to do if this happens, the one they got the best results from was holding a hoover on all the openings to literally suck all of the water out.
I've made up the brake ducts now, just a case of fitting my bumper, fitting the ducts in place and finding a way to direct the air onto the brakes. This is how they look so far.
I've also had my rear beam bearing kit turn up this week so the next thing to do will be to strip the rear beam...
I think i'm right in saying this could be between two different sizes depending on what rack is fitted to your car, hopefully someone will be along who can confirm this.
I bought some from Renault, they were reconditioned on a returns bases, I forget exactly how much it was as it was about a year ago, I can remember thinking at the time that it was very reasonable, so it might be worth a ring.
Just a quick one, can the rear beam be removed without disconnecting the rear brake lines? I'm hoping it's a case of unbolting the beam and calipers and it's off??
I would have a look but i'm not with my car at the moment and i'm just trying to make some plans for the next spare day i get this...
Few more updates to add.
I've finally got round to sorting my doors out, I've replaced the windows and mirrors with manual ones now which has allowed me to remove more wiring, I've also made some door cards up and relocated the door handle so it's fits flush. Pretty pleased with it and it...
Hi All,
I have removed the carbon canister for some brake ducts and i started the car up today and when it's running you can hear a hissing from the fuel filler breather, also when you stop the engine you can hear the tank making a lot of noise almost like it's returning back to shape.
When i...
