Guys - Ill see what I can sort out for you, but I think itll end up with you having to drive down south. If you want to work out the mileage, the workshop is a 30 min drive from south from J21 on the M25.
Why not combine the trip down with a Bedford or other track day, so you can test out the...
Thanks for all the PMs....keep em coming!
Youll all on my mailing list now - 17 to-date! Once the track day has helped fine-tune the mods Ill send you all the prices...
Hey BenR, feel free to help with the testing ;-) Given my suppliers 20+ years of racing/expertise he -always- scares the sh*t outa me when he pilots my road cars round the lanes!!
Thanks for all the PMs...and sorry for not replying sooner, but its been pretty hectic over the last few days.
Right, the kit will fit Mk1s and Mk2s. The £100 indicative cost was for only for the shims/camber bolts and -not- the springs...sorry, I thought that was pretty clear!
Were in the...
I was referring to Mr.Clarksons comments re. the Mk1 V6 from last weeks edition of Top Gear.
As for modding a V6, I wouldnt have a clue - it was an open-ended question to everyone!
I imported my 172 and saved a packet, as Im sure many others have. Can you import the Mk2 V6 yet, and if so, how much for?
Personally, Id wait and buy a nearly new one to avoid the huge depreciation. But then I fear youd be waiting a long time (12-18 months). Alternatively, I guess you could...
Im booked on the 27th June - cant wait! And Ill definitely be signing up for this one!! Nice to see Colin Stancombe there, especially since hes not racing this season - Ive been a customer of his for a good 10 years now, and hes the only person Id trust my Clio with :D
tonykart,
Did you manage to find those Throttle Body pics? Would the modded DTCC one fit a Mk2 172? And what are the DTCC brake pads like on the road?
And whats so special about the Orbisound exhaust to make it that expensive?!
Roamer - I take it you have sourced some suitable TBs already? May I ask who makes them? And are you getting a remapped ECU? Last I heard was that BB Tuning were working hard on cracking the Renault one for a chip for the 172...

What size tyres are you running? 205/40s?
The std 195/45x16s are 582mm diameter. 205/40x17s are 597mm i.e. a much larger rolling diameter.
Your best bet on 17s would be 225/35x17s with a 589mm diameter.
Thanks for the update BenR, and Im sure everyones glad of the technical explanation :D
To _KDF and others, if youre coming to Bedford on 27th June, pop over for a ride and see for yourself whether or not the mods are worth it.
Theyre based in the South. Cost of the parts is very little (£100 ish), then theres the labour on top, including setting up, so a few hundred quid rather than 1000s!!
As BenR and I have mentioned, this is nothing new, some some choice setup mods from the Clio Cup racing cars, tuned for the road.
The supplier in question is a veteran racer and Clio Cup Race Car team owner, hence his expert knowledge on all things Clio! Hes using my car as a test mule to hone...
Really? Did you fit them on your car or a demo car and experiment with the geometry settings for the rear? Im amazed they were legal on the race cars! Did you use to race in the Cup series, or spanner for someone who did?
