I'm sure this car started out as a cheap run around? Its now become a restoration lol.
As Middo said, car looks infinitely better, looks better without them gash wheels and thing bolted onto the rear bumper.
Any news on when the Clio's due back? Seems to have taken an absolute age?
Wish id have know there was a Stoke meet tonight. Would have come to this.
Ive been bored silly all day as well. Looks like a good turnout. I cleaned the 182 this morning as well so she would have even been in a presentable state for once lol
its easy enough to get them in, rather than leaving them directly behind the headunit poke the control boxes lower down so they are essentially sitting behind the heater controls.
Headunit should go back easily enough then
Forgot about that wing on the 888 edition. Your right theyre truely hurrednos. Would actually feel embarased driving round in what is otherwise a great car with that on.
1st mod - de-wing lol
Astra coupe's/Cab's iirc came in 3 different engine sizes
1.8 Normally Aspirated
2.0 Turbo
2.2 Normally Aspirated
2.0 Turbo being the fastest.
As i said earlier on in the thread i came very close to buying one of these. Really like them especially the 888 version.
doin 70-89mph on a 400mile run to cambridge and back in my 182 with a biggish passenger and his bike leathers i got 42mpg.
My journey to work which is alot of stop start traffic, and a dual carrigeway which has a constantly changing speed limit eg 50, 60, 40, 60, 40. I tend to get around 35mpg.
182 servicing is pretty reasonable to be honest. (Other than cambelt service)
My 4 year/48k service is being done next week. Oil & Filter, Air Filter, Pollen filter for £70 using genuine parts.
No abs on 172 cup. thats pretty much the main reason.
Because of this they are a group 17 insurance and come autum/winter time alot have been crashed so insurance co's dont like them anymore.
Could just be due to wear and old fluid.
Replace the disks, pads and fluid and you should find the brakes are very good. If your still not 100% satisfied then you might want to try fitting some braided lines to firm up the pedal feel.
If you want to change the brakes for cosmetic reasons then...
Was looking at these astra coupes before i got my 182.
Was very tempted with a remapped 2.0 turbo. Think theyre 197bhp standard and a tad slower than the clio, would imagine with a map that they would be a monster. hehe
Great looking cars inside and out imo.
the astra vxrs are great looking...sound nice too. corsa vxrs on the other hand i cant stand they look like theyre trying too hard.
if i had the cash id defo look into an astra vxr
its called bridging.
say you have a 4 channel amp and each channel produces 75watts rms that means each component will get 75watt rms and the sub will get 150watt rms, you do this by linking 2 channels on the amp.
Thats the best way in terms of sound quality to do it. although i personally just bought a 4 channel amplifer, used 2 channels for my sub and the other 2 for my components.
Sounded great tbh.
christ you keep that car clean. i keep mine fairly clean but i would never have the time or patience to keep it like that. doesnt appear to be a speck of dirt anywere.
car looks a great first car mate. thought i was seeing things just as id just this minute been looking at the photos your dad posted on overclockers uk forums.
this was for sale when i was looking at buying an RS, i did toy with the idea of taking a trip to somerset to view it. Kinda glad i didnt now. Sorry youve had such a bad run of luck, the coilpack is a pretty common problem on Renaults and can go anywere, anytime at any age it seems. The...
