I put a a 10mm socket and a ratchet on the bolt (engine side) then put a a jack handle over the ratchet and jammed it inbetween the bulk head and inlet plenum. I then went underneath the car with another ratchet and a long extension and tightened the bolt up from there.
It was a bit pikey but...
Sounds like a lamba sensor issue. I had the exact same thing happen to mine a couple of times but I also had hesitation at 4k, what ever the engine temp. Swapped the lamba sensor and neither of the symptoms have happened again.
Yeah all 3 Clios I've owned have leaked gear oil around that area and the 1st one I had was only 3 years old lol. There is a kit you can get from Renault that helps it apparently. All I do is periodically check the gearbox oil but it's never been low on oil.
Yeah some of them have a foam padding on them. Also all F4R seems to leak oil from underneath. Probably the main reason why Renault fitted them with an undertray.
I've got the infamous knocking under acceleration again. All the mounts have been replaced baring the lower gearbox mount (the one that sits just under the gearbox and on the subframe). The dogbone mount is Polybushed. When I 1st fitted them all it cured the knocking but a month later it's come...
When ever I've replaced the upper gearbox mount, it's the big nut on the top that's an arse to undo. It just spins the mount, on my ph-1 the nut on the bottom of the stud fell off. That was a real pain in the arse to get back on :|
I've replaced them on mates cars and never had any trouble...
I'd keep hold of it if you'd only be px'n it in for another 1*2. At least with with this one you know what needs doing and you know the car inside out, you could end up with one that needs a lot more money spending on it.
As people have said, sounds like the starters on it's last legs. Mine started off as just an intermittent problem and eventually it died completely. As for changing them you can get them out from the top with a bit of twisting and fiddling.
Turns out it was my radiator. Had my front bumper off today and it was quite apparent I had a hole in it. The fan was warped too, so chances are that's been rubbing on the radiator and eventually put a hole on it. Replaced the radiator and all is well, so far anyway lol.
Cheers for the advise...
We've been lucky with the weather here just recently. It's quite easy to tell where I've dropped coolant tbh. With it being fresh stuff you can see a bright green tinge in it on the floor lol. But yeah got the next couple of days off work so it'll give me a chance to give it a proper look over.
Only replaced the hose today so again it's hard to put a measure on how much I've lost. It's dropped from the max line to half way inbetween the max and min line. I topped it up just thinking it was the coolant leveling out, but I've lost the same amount again. Also something else making it...
Not sure how old it is tbh and looking at it looks in fairly decent nick, no obvious dints in it and it looks relatively clean so it Can't be the original lol.
Guess replacing it is the next step.
Passenger side. I was thinking it maybe the radiator leaking but it's hard to judge exactly cos it's dripping on to the subframe then leaking out on to the floor. The white residue marks on the hose were higher up than the bottom of the radiator too.
Replaced the coolant hose which I thought was leaking today. It was the large one that connects to the water pump, lower rad, thermostat housing and heater matrix and did a full coolant change. Reason I suspect this was the hose causing the issue was because it had white residue marks on the...
Recommend doing both the upper engine and upper gearbox mount if you do go for them though. I had just the upper engine mount (the one pictured above) fitted to my Cup and it caused one of the fixing on battery tray to snap due to the extra stress it put on it.
