Right, I've sourced the leak. Where the hose attaches to the bottom of the radiator is soaked, problem is I'm not sure if it's the hose or the radiator at fault because the bottom of the radiator is wet too. Is there anyway of testing the radiator for leaks without removing it?
Yeahhh, was the 3rd time I've done it this morning.
Hard to put a figure on how much I'm losing cos it can vary. Roughly I'd say I'm having to top up from the min to the max line on a weekly basis but took the car out for blast last night and it managed to loose that amount (from the max line...
Had a search around the forum but couldn't really find a definitive answer.
I seem to be losing/using quite a bit of coolant, there's no visible signs of leaks, checked all around the hoses, around the water pump area and everywhere is dry. Next thought was possible headgasket failure but...
Depends how unlucky you've been really, worst case scenario is it's hit the cambelt as it's snapped and you've got bent valves.
When you get a chance try and turn the engine over by hand, if it's locked solid it's going to be an expensive do unfortunately.
Lol. It's the 100k curse coming to haunt me again. All my cars try and kill themselves before they hit that magical number. Best quote of the night has to be the AA blokes though, the one about the Kebabs ;)
AA Bloke: "where you from mate?"
Rhys: "Failsworth"
AA bloke: "oh they only nick...
Good meet this, shame my car decided to rid it's self of it's PAS fluid but the AA's mans bodge got me home. Cheers for hanging back while the car was sorted lads, much appreciated :)
Lol very true, there's some very bizarre things gone on when they built the ph-1s, never had the pleasure of working on a mk1 so I can't comment on that :P
Not sure how to describe what I'm on about but it's the square foam thing that covers part of the aircon pipes. It's located at the top left of the engine bay near the brake fluid reservoir.
Is it vital it's there? Mine has finally ripped off after messing around with the brake fluid reservoir.
Also something I've learnt from experience. When it comes to spraying the wheels, test the spray can to make sure the nozzle works properly before going anywhere near the wheels with it. Nothing worse when it dribbles blobs of paint all over the wheel when you've spend ages prepping :|
Just be prepared to have sore fingers afterwards if you do them yourself lol. Sanding wheels by hand is a slow boring process. I;ve done two sets of wheels with a rattle can now and they've come out decent enough.
Just after the bolt sequence diagram for the oil sump. I came across it last night but forgot to save it and now I can't find it. lol
If someone could post it up for me it'd be much appreciated.
