There's alot more to the upper gearbox mount that k-tec do compared to standard upper gearbox mount. If you look at them both you can see there's quite a difference. Although like you say it is very pricey.
Like I said in my p.m the different shocks from front to back will be a factor due to the different damping rates. When I had the standard rears on and Konis on the front, it felt awful to drive. Fitted the rear Koni shocks, even though it improved things alot it still rode bumps in the road...
Yeahhh, I'm definitely going to, was planning on going today but everywhere had shut today near me by the time I'd got home from work and fitted the shocks.
The rears have abit of camber on them as well now, not entirely sure how the rear shocks have done that lol. Aslong as the car handles...
Yep lol.
Spoke to Jord (Foxy) Last night and he showed me where I was going wrong.
I had a washer in the wrong place, so one of the rubber gromits was pushing past the circlip thus letting the shock travel to far up through the turret and in to the boot.
Fitted the rear Koni shocks today and it seems to have sorted everything out, can ride bumps now without the steering wheel going from side to side violently.
I know what mean, like I'm carrying a heavy load in the boot and lifting the front end up.
Yep done the shock test and it does seem pretty equal on every corner on the car and I did the same with the Konis on every setting as well.
I remember reading your thread I think actually. Lads at Birchdown had a go at it didn't they?
At the moment mine's impossible to drive quickly, when I drive over a bump in the road the steering feels like I've pressed the "city button" on one of those mk2 Puntos lol.
It could possibly be yeah.
Thing is though the car is still at the same height and the bolt spacing in the shocks are identical to the standard shock so really nothing should that far out alignment wise.
Just have to get these rear shocks fitted and see what it's like then.
Fitted Koni Adjustable dampers to my car today but due to a problem I've had to fit the standard dampers back on the rear.
Now I know the car's handling isn't going to be brilliant with it's current set up but when ever I drive over a bump in the road the steering goes really light and the car...
Where was you Jon? Saw your car parked up, was you in KK's gorging yourself on donuts? :rasp: lol.
Good turn out as ever with it being a NW meet. Hope the weather is better tomorrow when I'm fitting my Konis.
Once these are fitted, I'm presuming it'd be ideal to get the car fully aligned to get the best out of them?
They lower the car roughly 45mm according to a few things I've read about them, so it'd probably knock the camber out thus causing tyre wear.
Edit: Just realised I've put this in the...

Presuming you mean the dogbone mount?
That's the only powerflex mounts you can get for the engine mounts.
Hmm, I'll definitely be doing test sprays on something before I do my wheels then, don't fancy having mis matched wheels lol
Cheers mate!
Mine are pretty much the same colour as that.
Not sure which section to put this in.
After reading a few threads on here the best "off the shelf" colour match to Renault's Anthracite colour is the one Halfords do called "Rover Stone Grey".
My question is, is the "Rover Stone Grey" a decent match to the Anthracite that The Wheel...
I just pulled mine off but it ended up in bits.
Probably best to get some heat on it with a hairdryer as it'll heat the glue up and make it easier to remove. The shadow that gets left behind can be polished/waxed away.
I've got DS2500 on the front and some £13 effort pads on the back.
The Ferrodos do squeal abit under light braking and do create alot of brake dust but they do have terrific stopping power.
I had a similar noise once but coming from the front of the car. Mine was doing it for a minute or two and was expecting my tyre to be flat but the noise disappeared :S
Had it been raining or were the roads really wet? That was the case in my situation and I just put it down to water getting on...
