I assume it's down to the name of the car, 182 and 172. People with a 182 might feel like they are making the car slower if they switch to engine parts from a car with less power

To be honest it could have done the same damage as if it had snapped. You might have got lucky but I doubt it. I would definately ask if they're putting a full new timing belt kit on, not just a belt

Yeah valves can be replaced no problem. I wouldn't expect it back tomorrow though, you'll have to wait for them to arrive then takes a while to fit them. You've got 16 so it depends how many are bent.

Understand what you mean. Other way to look at it is from the point of view of the person in front who braked. If that was you that braked and caused 2 people behind to crash would you take the blame?

Could vary, depends if it's covered under a warranty, the warranty company might be difficult. if the belt is on then a compression test will show if any of the valves are bent and on which cylinder. You plug it in where your spark plug goes and turn it over, if there's no compression then...
