Re: Those fitting rear anti roll bars - make sure you don't over tighten the bush nut
When you can't easily move the anti roll bar up and down with the droplinks disconnected
Yep the bolts where the bushes are held in the metal brackets. If you overtighten the bolts the brackets can squash...
Had a misfire issue which I solved by changing plugs, leads and coilpack about 6 months ago.
This weekend at the Ring it came back, but strangely enough was never while I was on track during my 22 laps, but often some time after coming off, or after the car had stood still for a while.
I...
In short, if you overtighten the nuts of the bracket holding down the bushes of the anti roll bar, it becomes really difficult for the anti roll bar to move, and it won't work properly.
I received the bar around 3 months ago and I couldn't be bothered with crawling under my car to install it...
You can order those from KW, for around 60 pounds each (I think). Not sure how much to get the springs swapped, that depends on whether the coilovers are already installed on the car or not.
email 1:
"Dear KW customer,
thank you for your email and the information.
We recommend to use a...
V2s are perfectly adequate if you use road tires on the track. Even with semi slicks such as R888, Pilot Sport Cup, they're still ok, although slightly harder would be better in that case, from what I've experienced.
For even better performance with semi slicks such as R888s, KW Germany advised...
Yeah there are actually only a few kits which have a real coilover at the rear, cheapest being the AST. KW V2s have the separate spring and damper like most kits for the Clio
The KW rears are adjustable Koni shocks (possibly with KW specced valving) with non linear springs. Ideally you'd want to get something with similar spring rates as the KW, or your roll resistance split will be off. Slightly harder rear springs than what KW uses should be ok too, as the standard...
Thought I'd change the track rod end myself and it's been a bit of a nightmare.
To start with the small nut on the vertical axle was so stuck the whole axle+ball was rotating with it, had to file down the sides of that axle so I could hold it still with a spanner to get the nut off. Already 3...
Got Harry's Laptimer to work this past week or so, and for the first time I find out the fastest point of the track is bottom of Foxhole (208km/h at 2:42) and not the approach to Schwedenkreuz (201km/h at 2:07).
Speed and acceleration overlay trails the video by around 5s.
As disk temperature was up to 500 degrees C after 5 to 6 laps, I felt that the Clio was in desperate need of some better brake ducts.
8cm aluminium ducting was fitted onto a 10 to 8cm plastic adaptor piece with duck tape, stuffed inside the original fog light mounts, and then installed after...
Just found out the English guy in the M3 was a national tarmac rally champion, no wonder he was fast.
Earlier session when I didn't know the track, some nice cars out there.
Zandvoort trackday by Gran Tursimo Events was really good.
My Clio really did not fit in well with all the expensive cars present. The next cheapest car was a E46 M3 on R888s, driven by an Englishman who at first sight was Hugh Grant, but actually was just some bloke that has been in amateur...
Most of the coilover kits come with springs which aren't actually stiff enough for semi slicks, such as the KW V2 kit that I use. So ideally you'd go for something like ASTs with the harder springs option. If you're on a budget then perhaps simply changing the springs to something harder with...
Not sure if serious, LOL
I have a set of winter tires, just need a set of performance summer tires which can also deal with some water.
Most of their wear will be from track use rather than road use. I still have some road tires which are used day to day.
Thanks, if I get...
I'm actually really surprised by that. Used a set which lasted around 110~120 laps of the 'Ring doing sub 9 minute laps. Not the best pads but pretty cheap and decent for the price IMO. Although, I guess the 'Ring isn't as hard on brakes as shorter tracks so it's possible that they don't fare as...
It's really easy. Just need to support the engine carefully with a floorjack and some wood between the jack and sump. Then you just remove the main nut holding down the engine, remove the 4 nuts holding down the mount, and replace.
