Started removing the bucket seat so the rollcage could be removed for the spreader plates welding.
Grinded the area where needed additional plating for my rollcage as the spreader plates were done for a OMP cage.
Took the car back today for alignment after fitting replacement passenger side stub axle and taking 10mm of the trackrod threads.
Judgement day, was my time wasted replacing the stub axle or was it a result.
All good, success so happy with that. Didn't get a printout or take a picture as its...
Replaced passenger rear stub axle tonight, when i took it for alignment it was out so said it could possibly be bent so ive replaced it so will see what its like when i go back for tracking and alignment.
Stub axle came out on removal of bolts 🤔
stub axle swapped over all bolts came out...
Car went for mot yesterday, it passed 😊. The car hasn't had an mot since 2013 and has spent its life in a garage since then to this day ! The last 2 years it has been in my parents garage.
Need to cover some miles in this now to see if any niggles pop up. Its booked in for cambelt, dephaser...
That metal ring is touching the spade terminal which is then grounding on the boss. This is a not correct for these cars as a lot of people have had issues if you do a search buddy. Don't refit as is !
Yeah that's not correct for 182 as that spring is grounding to boss , the OMP is the same you have to cut and remove thev spring clip so it doesnt earth to the boss when you press horn
My Crimpers had arrived so i can finish off running the mains cabling into the car from the battery and installed the inline fuse local to the Ecu as i had a short run of cable with the original connector.
My 350mm Sabelt wheel and push button unit, went for the carbon version as i do love...
Next up was to fit my silicone hose to my intake system, had ordered 2 pieces but only 1 arrived, the other is on back order.
How it currently looks with the renault hose fitted.
The red cable has been rerouted also as i just lashed it in at the time but didn't take a pic so doesn't count...
Productive weekend, First job was to sort the alignment out.
Removed 10mm either side of the trackrods which gave me enough adjustment to get the wheels straight.
I first disconnected the rack from the column with the oem steering wheel so i had things as straight as could be an reconnected to...
I must admit the pumps were only cheap from autodoc and i tried the renault bung but thats going to be like 15 years old ! Buy cheap buy twice. Will try a febi bilstein
Bought some new washer pumps not genuine and appears to leak via the rubber bung which goes to tank. Tried the old one of the renault pump. Is this common issue ?
Also one pump ive left disconnected as i dont have rear wiper, the other pump i connected 1 single pipes per outlet but only get...
Took the car for wheel alignment but didn't go to plan and still have the steering wheel off centre.
It appears that my trackrods are too long so couldn't wind in enough to get it straight one side so my rack probably needed centering aswell to sort it !
Oh well back to the garage for some...
Still haven't got to the bottom of the noise which possibly is driveshaft related.
Swapped Hub and shaft from red clio, hasn't totally eliminated the noise but definitely reduced it so i think the hub bearing was definitely knackered.
Disc off for the 2nd time in a week.
Hub off ready for...
So my steering rack insnt central, ive pit the oem wheel on and wenrt to get tracking and wheel is on the piss. They reckon passenger track rod is too long as they have run of thread for adjustment.
Do i need to disconnect the rack from inside the engine bat to try get it central ?
I see , without removing the shaft again i'm not 100% sure but i did get the driveshafts with the red clio and that had some form of fancy diff in the gearbox, im thinking quaife as there is stickers on the shell 🤔
So ive swapped hub and a driveshaft from the red clio. Still getting some form of noise but not the horrible grinding noise i was getting the other day so likely the hub that was on had a bad bearing.
Need to try figure it out as it could be something really stupid ! Somebody has mentioned is...
Appreciate ive built the car with having to source parts so possibly could be a ph1 which is shorter ? I would have to remove and compare it with the other driveshaft i swapped with
No idea, i bought a pair of second hand driveshafts buddy with the red shell. Pretty sure both driveshafts off my iceberg went on the red build. How can you identify ?
Took it up the road and its not making bad noise like the otherday but still is some form of noise
So ive been trying to resolve the noise i can hear from passenger side. Swapped a hub and a driveshaft and the noise is still present so to me im either unlucky or its gearbox/ diff related. Can't hear it so much with the car on idle 😫.
Definitely passenger side only you can hear it.
I was...
