Just removed the top half of mine the other night. About 10 screws/bolts and then slide it off.
There's a nack to it though, as there's 2 tabs that hook under metal brackets where the passenger airbag is.
I had to push down on that area, and then at the same time slide the dash towards the...
It's still pretty torquey but you couldn't overtake as easily as say your GT.
On the motorway though it's good for between 50-70 (or slightly more if needed).
The only downside is once you're at 70 it's at about 2500rpm already, so any faster than that and it starts to sound a bit laboured.

It's mostly used for commuting to work. 20 mile round trip a day, 5 days a week.
Driving like miss daisy I easily achieve 63/64mpg.
Driving "normally" I can get about 56mpg.
Not driven a 106 but it has the benefit of an extra gear so good if you're doing a lot of longer...
Modern cars are much more capable of withstanding longer terms spent parked up now.
If it's been a classic, I would say do this, and do that.
With the clio, I'd just leave it. At most, out a trickle charger on the battery or fire it up once a week.
Yeah, I guessed it might be. There's some extra speaker cabling that had been run from front to back too.
Yesterday I spotted a small patch of oil on the garage floor too, and it appears to be coming from gearbox. It's all coming apart anyway at some point.
