i know, it's just a try and learn project anyways.
currently driving 10psi on 1mm skimmed w/o squish band skimmed, now going to skimm the squish band aswell so i'll end up around 9:1. piston crown is only .2mm thinner then f4rt pistons afster skimmage.
i'll give it a try :)
Maybe you're confusing it with gearboxes?
They are often called chocolate
Pic's off the 3 F pistons:
As Chip mentioned the casting on F4 pistons are far worse then F7 casting.
That's why i'm going with skimmed f7's for my turbo'ed F7r
Rods are the same afaik.
And Luke, you aren't reading. Chip has lowered cr due to the 197 head. If he fits Meggie pistons the cr will be silly low.
as i said before f4r are beefier anyway so propably 'could' be stronger
If you look in the table 1 page back you'll see the f4r crown is thicker thus stronger.
However the f4r pistons have really deep valve cutouts making the ringland pretty small at that area.
However thinner crown does transfer heat better so based on theory there isn't a reasonable answer i guess
short while ago i changed a box with the engine installed and dropping the subframe. imo it's easier to just take the whole lot out!
a few connectors, cables, water, brake calipers, shifter rod!!!!!(get's forgotten a lot) and you'll be able to lower the lot
how does it improve straight line stability? as i've read multiple threads on mid-engined hatches and they all seem to have increased the caster.
is it because steering is going to lift the car more so it'll want to stay straight stronger?
no it was never rebuilt. only other muffler nothing else.
shafts will fit, Renault has used thin and thick shafts, you'll have to look which you have. although 19 16v uses thin ones to so they'll be fine i guess...
yeah i think so, but atleast you blipped the throttle so was a nice ending of the day :p
i had the idea of putting an airscoop in the front bumper (like brake ducts) and run a flexible pipe trough the tunnel to aid with cooling..
how do you get it on plates in the UK? in the Netherlands it's...
really awesome project m8!
had a little chat with you at the end of the day when you left the Lassa stand for photo's
do the oil coolers get significant cooling air there?
i'm seriously thinking into rwd'ing my gtt although the Netherlands law isn't that easy:dapprove:
well it isn't in bits yet but for some reasons going to pull the engine so might as well pull it apart :P
i don't know what your C/R is with the 197 head but atleast you won't have to go low comp pistons right? i've specced the 3 F pistons and put them up in an excel file:
i'm going to skim a...
