Made my first trip out on track at the weekend
Thoroughly enjoyed it :) but my mate with an Astra VXR has an oil temp gauge that at one point in the day read 120 Celsius...
After this, I'd quite like to fit a gauge to find out what my temps are doing whilst on track
Any other gauges I should...
UPDATE
With the longer 5th gear issue, I rang Martin at Agency and he was good enough to send down a standard 5th gear and idler for me to swap over, then send back the shorter one for a full refund
I wont bore you with the details so here is a couple of pictures whilst changing it over in...
UPDATE
Right time to do a bit of catching up!
2 weeks ago I performed a full service ahead of the Surrey RR meet. Just going straight onto the pictures...

Got a few pictures to put up :)
The build has stalled a bit as both my 182 and dads daily needed some work, so the 'toys' took a bit of a back seat
We now have another rolling shell, in white, 1983 2.0S, so EXACTLY the same as this just with no engine, and instead of white stripes on the seats...
Fair makes it easier than driving a stripped out Clio everyday :)
Yer sometimes in the Clio or just go in my Dads Mitsubishi Legnum usually. Haven't been for a little while though, been doing lates on the car!
Fair play, I've got my first trackday this Saturday at Bedford. Open pit straight in at the deep end, should be fine!
And I'm surprised I haven't seen you before now. I live in Chineham and go to Fitness First as well. This a second car or do you have a 'daily'?
Thanks Guysy, trying to crack on with is this year. As long as I do one thing every couple of weeks it won't take long!
And it was fine removing it, bolts weren't siezed (but I was using air tools). It was getting it all back in which was the fun bit! Just need a million pair of hands and then...
Was good to meet you yesterday Tim, Trophy was looking and sound lovely on the rollers!
And mods all together were-
-Service 4 days prior with Millers Nanodrive 5W40, NGKPFR6E-10 plugs and fresh 'box oil
-Magnecor KV85 ignition leads
-Milltek including decat
-KTEC billet lightened flywheel...
Had the trip down to Surrey RR yesterday with the organised meet on here.
Here's my results:
Surrey RR 02.13 by Jon_KTM, on Flickr
Pretty happy with how it ran, gained 7.9HP and torque is up around 6ft/lb's. With the RSTuner map it also seems to have smoothed everything out, including holding...
Again a big thanks to Jon for organising, and Charlie and Dan for manning the rollers.
Very happy with my result :) all up from last time which I'm more than happy with!
What were the figures for the 225 if anyone knows? Left before it went on...
Yer I haven't looked at it myself but he said the gear is very brittle so could be interesting. Thanks for the offer Matt will keep it in mind if I cant sort something out my end.
As you can probably tell I dont know a lot about the technical ins and outs of diff's and gearboxes! Might have to...
I've got the torx Matt but is there a special puller required for the gears? Or will any sort of puller do the trick?
And that must be the way to do it then Chip, if you put a Quaife in it though would that change it again as you said it is the diff that raises the gears?
UPDATE:
Knowing my gearbox had a nasty crunch whilst changing at high revs, I decided to source a new 'box as the Bedford trackday was fast fast approaching. I didn't fancy the idea of having an issue on the day so thought I'd tackle the problem by not only getting a new 'box but also giving it...
