So I bought some yellow paint yesterday.
A stone chip turned to peeling paint on my spoiler, so I thought I'd make a test piece to see how many pear layers I need to match my car

It's a nasty mustard colour when it's dry

Yeah, just to remove the majority of the orange peel if you get any.
What's that place in Warrington that does the Renault anthracite matching? I imagine they'd be able to sort out some 2k aerosol
I just used our local paint companies 2k lacquer. It's the stuff I mentioned above that stays a bit soft for a while.
I don't know whether it was because I rushed or because it was a rattle can but I wouldn't leave the finish as is, if it was headlights and it dried like that I'd flat and...

I happened to be testing a piece of polycarbonate in work today. Flatted back with 1200 grit paper then quickly rattle canned.
Straight away it's better but if I took my time and used decent paint it'd have come out perfect.
To be honest even if it comes out with an orange...
If he gets one of those, it's easy enough to work out lacquer depth from taking a reading of the panel (primer, paint and lacquer) and a reading of a door shut/engine bay etc with thin/no lacquer
I don't know actually, but hand tight could be a nip to 100+nm

Are you on standard pads? I got awful judder after getting them hot once. Ended up doing away with them and I've not had brake problems since
I've not felt any negatives under braking yet. Time will tell.
I don't think they'll stay on for track use though. Far too much of a pita to line up when changing wheels

It looks just the right amount of wide without being full blown racecar/scene stance.
Seems to tramline on bad roads and it feels a bit wider on the road, but otherwise it's no different handling wise. Its probably a placebo but an extra width is noticeable from the drivers...
So, after the last few messages, I bought spacers.
20mm hubcentric bolt through types. Not what I wanted exactly but hey ho.

I think it could do with another 5-10mm but it's a subtle improvement.
It should look mega with the speed lines and chunky tyres one.

I've not used many from a rattle can but I've this companies primer/paints are ok so i can't see why they]or lacquer wouldn't be good.

Yeah that's essentially flow coating, you flat back the paint/part to the point you'd polish, up to around 3000 grit then lacquer instead of polishing.
I was considering doing it to the audi headlights when I get around to it. Use 2k lacquer for more durability. Ideally one of those posh ones...
Yeah work it until its translucent, then up the speed to do the actual cutting. Then down to a low speed to buff.
With regards to pressure, saying "a little less and a little more" will be inaccurate and you'll struggle to get a consistent finish.
Draw one thick black line on the backing...
That sounds to me like you're working unbroken down polish.
I spread the polish on speed 2.5
Work the polish on speed 3.5/4 until it goes translucent
Polish the panel on speed 5/6 (this is where holograms are made, you're cutting out the original defect but inflicting your own)
Then polish...
