Never use the sills or enless you want to have a rotten sill from the seams coming apart, i allways use the trianglar brace plates to the front on the nuts to stop it from slipping.

You'd probably find it's the one in the front/center by the heater fan.
If you feel around the bulkhead near the right hand side of the exhaust you'll find a rubber tube, another forum member was having this problem untill i located it.

Use skateboard grip tape i have and it worked a treat on a uneven floor (with a heat gun) 2 lengths side by side and the floor well is covered here's a pic of mine before i removed the support bar and fully stripped it again.
Looks great Russ. And yes the genuine brake ducts are shocking the passenger side (at the tip) is about 5/10mm shorter than the drivers side.
Just like you i didn't like how they fitted and extended it to make it the same length so it looked the same as the drivers.
I'd assume you could just get the area done but then the finished look at the edes might not be the best,
personally i'd speak to a flocking company and explain to them, they can point you in the right direction.
