Lol at this thread.
Dave we have a Volvo estate, a BMW tourer and an M3 Saloon. We managed last year with smaller vehicles just fine so we'll be alreet. A 172 trailor is a recipe for disaster if it's 'built' by us! Lol
At least the two estates can carry all our gear, then I can asbo it...
Aside from what I've just said, this is the most sensible option.
Having had a serious amount of help from Tony over the last couple of years with regards to tuition it has definately made me realise how much fun trackdays are when you actually know what/where you're doing/going. I actually...
Thing is the Sachs may be just out of budget if you buy everything new, if your smart you can definately do it for under a £1000...
Tired Sachs - £200 plus £550 rebuild = £750
Or...
Good condition 'pinned' Sachs £500 tops.
Then accompany with...
New Koni's - £200
New Sportlines - £150
New...
So Phil, if you knew before the clio and when you had your 106 that adjustable coilovers are the only way to go, how come you ended up buying Billies? LOLZ
Oh and btw, you assuming that the Sachs setup that Dave has is 'understeery' shows how much of an idiot you really are. Maybe I'd suggest...
Lol and too further that, he near enough slated anyone that didn't have anything bar Bilstein suspension on their car! As they were the best at the time! Lolz
Quite soft that Danny? Guessing that there obviously compromised for road and track use, is there alternative spring rates available or would they need revalving?
I'm currently building my setup as we speak...
Sachs front - Koni's rear.
AST topmounts
Whiteline ARB
Unsure of springs though, MF...
Pads are such a personal thing in my experience...
Personally I love the CL range, offers fantastic stopping power for a reasonable price and never had the pad fall to pieces like the old stories go. Unbelievable from cold also which was a great plus point! The only downside which didn't...
That's a pretty rare 172 tbh, sat-nav and cruise control were very rare options for the late registered 172's! A little bit of love and that car would be nice!
That looks fantastic Chris! With the retrim you have planned it'll be the perfect 200 in my eyes, everything will tie in nicely.
Re. The steering wheel, if you fancy trying to blag a free wheel with the red stitching I'll by all means buy the wheel with the yellow stitching off you ;)
Afternoon all, currently in the process of refreshing all the suspension/bushes on the car for this years trackday season. Just wondering wheres best for these certain parts?
Track rods arms/ends
Lower arms + ball joints
ARB Bushes
I know some things like lower arms and balljoints are better...
Think it would be a good idea to do one just for Clios, ranging from Mk1's right up to the current model. My only gripe would be how you run the day, granted everyones got to start somewhere when doing their first trackday but if there's going to be a lot of novice drivers then sessions would be...
Good progress on the car, one thing I will say is i'd change that location for the tow eye. Have a look at Icemans project thread, some of the stewards are pretty brutal with dragging the car if you come off and his front bumpers been ripped apart! Not something you really want to be replacing...
Bimarco's Futura Lewis, I'd say their pretty damn comfy for a bucket seat. The only other seat that felt comfier was a Corbeau Revolution wrap around seat.
Bimarcos on eBay are £200 each, cheap and FIA approved!
You can't have a FF cup ffs. It's either a 182 Cup or a 182 FF. Either way the Sachs will fit, but you'd want possibly a stiffer rear shock to complement the fronts.
